Beginning of July was the last mission for the M60B30 and he says goodbye in impeccable condition [and with over 300tkm ...]

He had to make room for the M60B40, which we had repaired over the winter:

The conversion turned out to be not as simple as first thought. Engine was from a E38 740i, many accessories have been taken from a E39 540i M62B44 because our engine came without attachments. But in the end everything worked out.

    New clutch:

    Just before the first start:

    Immediately ran smoothly. ;)

The 3L V8 air filter box had not fit since the 4L V8 has a much larger AFM. Therefore, the intake air filters now is a cheap air filter.

One bad shot from the last event:

It was time for a passenger seat incl. "new" belts.

    Will follow!

Then there had to be an improvement for suspension. There is a lack of camber on the front axle and the chassis Ebay is very soft. The E34 drives like a boat ... Looking for ne suspension, we noticed that the E34 coilover-kit of Ksport very similar to the 200SX coilovers...;)

We decided to buy a cheap Apex chassis and try our luck.

The dampers of the rear axle were like new - everything could be turned super. At the front it was all scruffy! At the end we had the sleeve to flex.

The suspension was disassembled and cleaned.

    A few special parts.

Install suspension on the rear axle. Everything ran smoothly. ;)

At the front it was more difficult:

    Apex ;)

We have only managed one side, the other still missing. After that, the ride height is set and there are again pictures of complete cars. ;)

The last damper was rebuilt yesterday:

All around lowered a bit, but that has to be more low ;) [rear about 1-2 cm, front about 3-4 cm]:

Track plates [40mm per side)] have already been ordered for the front.

Now the exhaust must routed to the rear, so that he is not as vulnerable.

We are still undecided. We will probably sell the engine. Why?

The car has now finally again seen a laundry and the coilovers was screwed a little further down. The idle actuator from the donor vehicle was probably a hit, so this was replaced. Now runs very well.

Yesterday we changed the exhaust for more ground clearance(unfortunately only phone pictures):

    Sounds now like this:

Let's see how it sounds under load. : D

Now the most important things are done - few metal sheets must still be made. Some are designed to protect the fuel lines at the rear wheel arch and the other to complement the front fender.

Got to love the M6x series...

But i highly suggest you go true-dual 3" all the way back.... maybe an x-pipe where the reasonator would usually be...

It will give you a less raspy and more deep sound...

Because I could be interested, for the right price and in a close future. :)

I also found out that you are the guy from Germany who sold some wheels to my "team"mate Darrell, did he show you how your old Blitz wheels look like now?

Your BM sounds sick now! don't you have sound regulations where you drift?

    Thanks! ;)

We went on friday to the wheel alignment where we adjusted on the front -3 ° 40`, with 0 toe. On the rear axle you can not adjust much on the E34. Since we now have -2 ° 20 'and a bit of toe-in.

Saturday we went to Drift training, where we only had problems ... Even in the warm up lap the oil pressure light goes on and the engine had noticeable resistance and went idle then getting out. We suspect bearing damage ... We first of all think that oil pump M60 typically dropped, but that was not the case:

Always impressive, something that always happens in the worst moments ... For small rounds at home with the car there was absolutely no problems. We hope it is only the side bearing and the crankshaft is still OK

Some footage from the drift training:

Last season we have a lot of problems with the engine ... After a bearing damage we put new rod bearings in the engine, but no new main bearings... At the next event we get a major engine damage incl. 2 holes in the block. ..

The E34 stood for a long time sad in the corner, waiting for a decision how to proceed further.

True to the motto "buy cheap, buy twice!" So we bought a second time a cheap M60B40 ...: D

At the same time we get a 3,91er Diff (OEM 3.23) from an E34 535iA and welded it.

The FlyOff was finally installed and works pretty well. Let's see how the outcome changed the drifts.

At the end we put some stickers on the car, for a little bit better look.

Yesterday we do have a precaution kicked the Kats, which turned out to be quite useful. The pottery was partially fused and significantly so clogged the exhaust. He has also become much louder. : D
