Hi all, no doubt by now it has been heard that this has happend what i can say is that its true. I David Waterworth am the builder and driver of this car. Ten laps is all that i have driven this car for and what i can say is that i love it, the noise, torque just shear madness of the thing. I hope to do some more testing with the car after its shakedown from the first round of BDC, making some changes here and there with nothing like this being done before that i have found its upto me to make the right setup and see where we end up. Thanks to all who came to visit us in the pits and show how you loved the idea aswell as thats all i wanted to do, make something different and crazy that people would like to see. Here are a few pics of charlie's build and other pics of the car should be along later, thanks again. The begining: Its in there: Propshaft from Diemax Engineering: Inside: Exhaust box: The aftermath: More pics to follow from outside and pics from Teesside. Thanks to my family, friends for support in building this car and to the following help i have recieved, Arbroath Tarmacadam & sons, Caelan Well Services, Checkpoint Racing, Demon Tweeks, Diemax Engineering, Driftworks, EP Racing, Fabricage, Marcin Auto Centre, SM Engineering,
Mental, which is always nice! You had it on the rollers with and without those filters? They are fucking smalllll for a 8ltr car, so might be holding it back, deffo worth an hours rolling road time and a few twists of a screwdriver to check if you havent already! TBH i bet it handles as well or better than one with an RB or JZ as its not as long and an alloy block too!
is this the same engine that was on eBay, located in france, I was tempted to bid on it haha, you mustve had the same idea
The filters are believed to be sufficient enough for this build and hasnt seen anything before or after teeside yet. The engine i read was that it hasnt done anything for six years just pass hands between Gander then to Dan. Me and a friend left for this engine as soon as the competition was over at sunderland, my s13 went north and we went south for it and collected the next day. I had decided after the 3rd place finish at Silverstone i needed a change of car and engine.
I'd deffo, when you get a chance, chuck it on the rollers for an hour to check the filters on and off. Each filter has 4litres , 200bhp, and 230+ lbft to deal with, and I've seen filters about that size cause restrictions on 160bhp 1.6s. Could be a nice cheap performance gain. And yeah, wanna hear it in action now!
Thanks, these filters were for 250ish on paper and that is on each bank, and this engine is with mods for 500ish hp and also the restriction that would be more of a concern is the actual size of the throttle butterfly possibly, but that is enough from me analysing this as i have for the past month hearing too much negativity and doubts about it all. I have a plan for what is left to do with the suspension, tyres etc a little more practice but so far it does drift nice and havnt spun it out yet so fingers crossed for next time out
thanks man, it will be better next time anyway, there were a lot of changes for me with this car. i am usually very quick to learn different cars, corollas, bmw's, supras, but i like this one as it is being a challenge
AWESOME, really glad the engine made it into an s-body, when gander stopped his project, I guessed it would never happen But this looks amazing, look forward to some vids
yeah i love the thing still cant believe its happening. i dont mind people suggesting ideas appolagies if it came accross this way.
here are some vids for the moment of the car moving, the bonnet on one or two of the vids were to get pics of the engine while drifting
