I don't know if I'd be able to get a manifold made up as I haven't looked into it yet but an engine swap isn't out of the question

Pretty pointless getting a manifold made to fit them turbos - they're not amazing. Better to fit a decent single turbo in the first place (and I'd go with a jz anyway) :)

I haven't really had much time to give it much thought I'll ask around and get a price for an engine swap, no doubt someone on here does them

I've always liked the look of Altezza's/IS200's.

Was seriously considering one for a daily driver but plumped for an Aristo instead in the end.

I've had an is200 and currently own an altezza and they are both very capable platforms but like everyone says, the 2.0 6 cylinder is200 lacks grunt, but I find the altezza the same unless you raz the nuts off it, but that's when the tezza shows its true colours, over 5000 rpm that engine is immense!

Altezza all the way. Weld up a is200 can't be a bad option

Because it doesn't have a Nissan badge. :euge::smash:
There is also something wonderful called the IS300. Pretty much the same car, but with a 2JZGE
Only other reason i can think of for them is people are obsessed with what's "scene"
Power don't mean fuck all, more how you drive it. They need to be pinned like a ae86, but that means having to be a better driver than Mr Massive turbo, so people usually go the big boost - blow it up route.
Good solid and reliable cars. but if it were me, i'd just skip right ahead to the IS300, unless there was an altezza for similar money.

One thing you cant discredit from the lexus is reliability over other marques. They very rarely go wrong.
I on the other hand have just bought a E36 328i to use while i'm restoring the celica supra.
Maybe it's just because i'm used to 80's toyota reliability these past 5 years, but i've been very quicky reminded that toyota build quality pisses all over BMW.
A few examples on the e36..

    1. Vanos was doomed from the off due to shite O rings.
    2. CCV valves are utter crap, same goes for ICV valve design. Crank and cam angle sensors all fail
    3. They eat lambda probes at £120 a pop
    4. Subframes and top mounts are weak as piss on earlier cars. Same for drive shafts on mid size diffs
    5. stupid plastic parts like waterpumps, thermostat covers and expansion tanks on rads. (engine killers)

The e36 was the first Cad designed bmw, and they had ease of recycling in mind when they did it.
Kinda tells you something about how much life they predicted in the cars from the off.

And what about the long list of lexus faults.... ummm. Leave that with me... (Chime in if you can)
