Smeatharpe Drift Practice & ODC Round 2

This will be the Second event of 2013. As was said in the briefing for their first Smeatharpe event Straightliners will never cancel an event, the dates listed are set in stone.

Thankyou for your support so far, round 1 in March was a very good day with the new number cap and everyone was exceptionally well behaved.

Please read all the details below:

    Event updates

Pre-pay will now be available for the drift tickets at 8pm the Wednesday 2 weeks before the events (17th July)

    ODC round at this event

Downloadable form with seperate signing on que at the event for pre entered drivers - SEPARATE QUE FOR PRE-PAY AT THE REGISTRATION VAN

    Events

    3rd August 2013

    12th October

    16th November

    Price & Pre-pay info

    £10 Entry Ticket
    £60 Drift Ticket
    50 Drift tickets available.

Everybody has to pay £10 for entrance to the venue and then £60 to drift. So £70 total for drifters.

Registration for pre-pay will go live on the Wednesday 2 weeks before the event at 8PM then closes when the limit is full or the Wednesday before the event. If numbers do not get to 50 the rest of the tickets will be available on the gate.

This is the link to registering for pre-pay:

    Drift Tracks & Tuition

We have 2 tracks at Smeatharpe:

1 - Large circuit style lapped track with upto 4 cars on at one time to keep the que times down. The wall survived last time so is still at the airfield ;)

2 - Beginner playpen with drift tuition available. There will be no spectators allowed at this track so even less pressure for anyone wanting to learn. Learn basic techniques like doughnuts, figures of eights and transitioning in a safe environment.

If you are thinking of starting drifting have a quick read through these threads for some basic advice:

    Driver Info & Rules

Gates open 8am, scrutineering between 8.00 and 9.30am. Drivers briefing 8 - 8.30am (You need to be on time for this)

Drifting starts 9am and ends 4pm.

    Free tyre fitting

    Drivers licence needed

Arms and legs covered & helmets on. (Bring your own) Seatbelt/Harness done up.

Take your tyres home with you and rubbish in the bins. Any fly tipping of tyres will result in you being banned from future events

Noise restrictions - NO BEE-R LIMITERS! If you have one you will be asked to turn it off or so it doesn't bang like a shotgun.

Obey the marshal's and flags. Bad attitudes towards the drift track marshal's is not acceptable, any problems ask for me, Paul or Trevor.

TOW HOOKS - easily assessible tow hooks are required front and rear

    Scruitneering

Cars need to be scrutineered, common sense stuff you should have really sorted yourself prior to any event:

    Battery secure

    Seat & Belts secure

    No fluid leaks

    Brakes working

Footwells/interior free of junk (having a bottle roll under your pedals is not fun)

    Competition info

There will be the usual competition in the afternoon with 3 trophies on offer. This is open to everyone including ODC drivers.

1 - Best driver of the day

    2 - Most improved beginner

    3 - Best wall rub

    ODC

Odc qualifying available for the first 2 events of the year. 23rd March & 3rd August.

There wasn't anywhere local to do any ODC until now and please bear in mind this is ODC added on to our practice day so there cannot be any priorities over people not competing. If you want a place be online ready to click pay for your ticket at 8.01pm on 17th July.

There will be a separate briefing for the ODC in the morning right after the normal briefing.

    New ODC competition format:

For the 3rd August we are going to do the ODC a little differently based on a few suggestions from drivers. We will be running just the ODC competitors during the competition but time how long it takes. Once it's done the ODC competitors will take a break whilst the non-ODC drivers have the track to themselves for the same amount of time as it took for the competition.

This way we should get the comp over with quicker and everyone can stop to have some lunch whilst watching the competition.

So with this new set-up, do the ODC competitors not go out with the non-ODC drivers? Or is it, everyone out, only ODC, everyone excluding ODC, then everyone out to finish the day?

Only ask as I wasn't impressed with the time taken up with the comp at the March event, (apologies for being a little blunt).

Lee we are always open to ideas and suggestions, now we are staying in the same area of the airfield it's got to the point where it's all fine tuning stuff to make the day flow as best as it can and track layouts now which is great. Our team of marshal's are one of the main reason the days are a success putting in the effort to help keep an event down here.

Alex this is how ODC will be run:

Morning practice - Both ODC & non-ODC drivers on track

Lunch Break - ODC competition (ODC drivers only)

Afternoon 1st practice - Non-ODC drivers only for the time it took the competition to run.

Afternoon 2nd practice - Both ODC & non-ODC drivers until track closes.

Judged section will be on the main course all day long.

Rhys I'd prefer if you were registered with odc rather than just having a go because it takes time off our practice day so only people that are actually looking to get their 4 rounds in or registered with ODC.

Only 10 days until the pre pay opens for the next Dakota Drift day (including ODC round 2)

17th July at 8pm is the time and date the lines will open. You need to register with the site first then you can pay.
