my s14 has done loads of full bore trackdays including drift days and ive been through one engine. the original engine that went was runnning 1 bar fmic, walbro, stock tune ecu.... this was obviously a big mistake as it eventually cracked 3 piston lands. Second engine i went to a 2871, 1.4 bar, power fc, z32, greddy sump tomei expreme manifold. I have run it like this since, and weighing only 1150kg, its quicker than most things. i literally fill it up and cane it on track-mainly the ring and it runs sweet til it runs out of fuel. The first engine when disassembled sshowed signs of very very hot running like blue cam lobes etc. I seriously recommend a big sump -do not fit a fake greddy type they are SHIT. Massive oil cooler and larer capacity increases the very pathetic oil capacity from 3.5litres to almost 6!!! in my car. Love my sr even though it does sound pretty lame you cant deny the performance, id love to have a High revving beast of one one day--tomei sr22 with a full race kit would be my dream mmmmmmmmm
Why are the Greddy oil pan copies shit? What´s with the ISIS stuff? -> click me hard The US people are running them....
Not all are I'm sure but I tried one and The casting was crap poorly machined and would have required trimming to clear the oil baffle plate if I bothered trying to fit it
The top of 4th would be more like it at mallory. Well it is for me on the s14a, With 3rd it wont keep the speed up enough bouncing off the limiter. Still has manual diff so gearing isnt short. I dont have oil cooler or uprated sump on the s14 yet but so far I havnt had any real problems with pressure or temp. But I will get them just for peace of mind. Running 15w50 a mm or 2 above max on dip stick.
what is the best bang for buck turbo on a stock sr with steel headgasket 555cc nismo injectors nistune ecu (obviously would be needed) z32afm/rb25 tomei pon cams
That's the setup I was looking at for next year. From talking to "people" there's meant to be a direct bolt on Holset coming to the UK soon that'll go straight onto the standard manifold. Failing that I was going to go 2871r with the .64 housing or, maybe, do what Phil had on the DWS14: 3071r. My reasons were both keep the standard manifold and the 2871r is internally gated too. Looked at the HX30 but the it's a case of adding the manifold, wastegate, getting the oil feed right, putting on a custom down pipe etc and that all adds up. That said this is just what I'd decided having talked to people, I'm sure there's another option that I'm not aware of as my knowledge is limited. I was/probably still am going to go with the 2871r to keep the spool down so as to have good range of power. Plus Ant's had good results using that setup on his Sil80 and it's never seemed too laggy.
yea ment to be a good all round turbo 3071r is ment to be laggy on a stock sr so from that I would go with 2871r .64 rear housing
yea well my mate had that trubo on and RB20 and didnt make full boost (17psi) till around 5000rpm. 2871r is the way to go.
the HKS 2540 or evan 2530 are perfect on a 2L,GTR-S,GTSS youll be having fun with any of these heres a graph to show you a 3040.63 on a near stock RB20,not the most responsive thing in the world, but later we set the rev limiter closer to 8000rpm wich helped it alot on the track it wants more tho!! 20psi+ is say!
I will be sticking on some s15 injectors and a Z32 MAF on the s14a. What Turbo would be best for this setup or should I just chuck on a T28r? I am not looking for big hp just reliable response. Also what sort of power will the s15 injectors cope with?? I am pretty much maxing out stock stuff.
s15 injectors, listed as 480cc...but are known to be infact 444cc. safe to run 330bhp with stock s14 fuel pressure (3.5bar) or 350 at a squeeze with 4bar fuel pressure... but this ofcourse depends on who maps it! turbo wise... depends on wallet, and future mods? gt2871 @ about 1bar but gt2560r (t28r...) @ 1.2bar would work well
my 180sx has 390bhp with no head work or bottom end and i give it death everyday and it hasnt missed a beat
