It's a big single pipe, just crimped so it looks like two welded together. It would probably sound rather weird with just one bank.

Id have a sensibly silenced exhaust for track days and then use the bypass for drag/sprint/hillclimbs/scaring people. Looks like a nice solution. Most hillclimbs and sprints that ive been too havent had a decibel limit.

Haha, at least film it using the 550D so I there is something on fillum.

And I bought a posh audio recording thing today, so we'll try and capture that sound better - trust me people it is MUCH louder and MUCH more awesome than the video makes it sound. Like, seriously.

Nitron + Tom Schirmer + Phil's OCD = Good car.

Why did you need to fabricate tie rod ends? Does this have anything to do with the engine swap?

Well, since this thread has already been resurrected from the grave and I haven't seen it before, DAAAAAAAMN this car sounds freakin' amazing! Almost on par with Mad Mikes RX7's when at full noise, uuuugh :worthy:

The rack had to be lowered, and a custom rack used along with a custom steering column with additional joint. So we had to fabricate hubs to drop the same amount so we didn't introduce horrific bumpsteer.
I get asked so much about this car by people thinking they can just drop a V10 into any BMW. Getting the engine in is easy, but it really is incredibly complicated to get the car working properly afterwards. I would never take it on again knowing how difficult and expensive the swap is.

    Hello Phil.
I have always been a fan of this car. Funny I found thi sthread untill now.
What I am interested in is knowing what are the parameters of your brakes.
I am running OZ hamann PG1 wheels and am looking for a BBK that could run. I like yours
It has crossed my mind to even consider a v10 swap, but I think its out of my league.

They were Alcon 6 pot front 360mm discs, and Stoptech 4 pot rear 360mm if my memory serves me correctly.

Given what you know now, if you wanted more power from an e46 m3 what would you do?

If power is all you're after there are much much much much easier and cheaper options out there. A turbo'd S54 is a pretty cool thing.

He doesn't own this v10 car anymore , I think he owns a slightly different v10 car now.

I believe the v10 m3 was last spotted parked up somewhere close to the Nurburgring.
