hey guys my name is tom, im from the west midlands. i have been to a few DWYB days at pod and the first two rounds of the BDC this year and i have really got the drift bug, i normally drive the van for JDMASH and generally work as his bitch at the bdc rounds but i thought it was time to have a go myself

ive always had a thing for rex's and after selling my fiesta (dont laugh) i found the perfect fd

its a 94 type r, 8000 miles after a rebuild at wgt and with a massive service history. i even have the origional bill of sale from japan!

the car already has mazdaspeed coilovers but i think they are a bit nakkerd, sounds like there is a duck stuck in every spring, and thats about it so plenty of room for mods

so the plan is just get the car safe to drift (cooling and non sequential) then get my ass to a few practise days and have a go

    few piks for ya
    Picture003.
    Picture002.
    Picture001.

only mods i have done so far
    bypass ast
swapped suspension for standard to try and fix em
few random stickers to cover dings in the body
    and thats about it

    thanks

im still running the fd filler neck atm and the fc 1 is different ill try and explain though

loosen the bolts to the ast
join the hose that comes from the radioator to the bottom of the ast to the hose that goes to the top of the ast
then just cable tie the hose that goes to the tank behind the drivers headlight somewhere safe (its called the overflow tank i think)

thats ok to do but its better to buy an fc filler neck from mazdarotaryparts and blank the 2 hoses off all togeather then connect the hose to the overflow tank to the top of the filler neck

    hope that helps
ill post some piks up later

ive put it all back together atm.. so 'hoping' its gonna hold up.. gonna go for a smal drive now to tyre man see if it leaks/expolodes etc..

if your at round 3 with JDM mash you can pop over and have a butchers then if you like.. but AFAIK carl wanted me to have it.. so i guess theres a reason.. :)

you shouldnt remove the ast tank really, its there to remove air from the cooling system, espically not advised on twin turbo set up, and guess you have changed the filler cap for a pressurised one yeah?

but yeah nice car mate, lovely colour,

quick mods i did, override switch for the fan, (take a tap of the earth side of the fan relay, run up to dash switch the earth out of switch, 5 mins and life saver,

get an under drive kit for the water pump and altinator, stops coolant surge at higher rpm, had this problem early in my drifting, made my coolant temps spike really fast and uncontrollably,

then fronty mount blah blah blah lol

hope thats some help :) (although you prob know all this)

thanks mate, to be honest the wheels will be staying for a while, gotta focus on getting the cooling and steering sorted first then get some practise, i love the way it looks atm im a big fan of the standard shape

but i would like a set of ultralite nurburgring's with the gold center

Stop polishing and start drifting, you''ll only cry when there rubber wip marks all up the side and big dent in the rear 1/4.

Nah i looks tidy mate, you going to weld the diff or fit a 2 way?
