lol! just get quotes on anything pre 1990, even ridiculous things you would never even think you could get insured on! check out triumph dolomite sprints...they are great fun.
ill be at the same stage in 2 years ive heard that cos im only 15, thus being born after '93 i have to wait till im 18
What you have heard my friend was only a rumour, i was shitting my pants when i heard it, i thought durrrrrrrrrrrrrr, another 2 years without going sideways on public... i mean private roads. ...and to make you be happy happy happy, here it is. Minimum Driving Ages
I do love them things, they fly at Race tracks like Brands Hatch, outrunning all the 69' Camaros and the 69' Boss Mustangs, they are brilliant little cars, but i LURRRRVVVV the Chev, and i'm desperate for one now, How does this sound... Keep it, for about a year get my no-claims up, install Weber carburetor's, add a Bucket Seat, strip the interior to Two Seats so i can get my brother to school, add a strut bar, a roll cage, some lovely 5 rally alloys, like the ones in my sig (the first thing to be done, about 1 hour after buying the car!! ) and various other things that will make her fly. If i strip out the interior, and keep the Front two seats, remove all carpets, rear seats etc etc, will it still be road legal? i need to learn the lingo you see as i haven't started looking up on how i am going to do the project, all i know is i can afford one plus some modifications and of course insurance and i can continue dreaming as there are FOUR on eBay at the minute, marvellous... and one is only £250!!!
I think the Web's will cost me about £500-2k depending on how many i need, as the car is a In-line 4, it will probs cost about £800, what isnt bad, the buckets, about £250 each, and the Roll cage, i have no idea, but im thinking about £300 and the rims, with tyres probs about £140, Low budget, not bad... and it's all insurance friendly, apart from the Webers Could you answer my above question? I'll retype to be nice If i strip out the interior, and keep the Front two seats, remove all carpets, rear seats etc etc, will it still be road legal? i need to learn the lingo you see as i haven't started looking up on how i am going to do the project, all i know is i can afford one plus some modifications and of course insurance and i can continue dreaming as there are FOUR on eBay at the minute, marvellous... and one is only £250!!!
yes it will be fine. nothing illegal about stripping the interior. many people on here run road legal cars with no interior
Oh wicked, brilliant infact, will save alot of weight too, problem is i doubt i'd get insured for a First Car? plus it being probably under Classic Car Insurance?
insurance logic is roll cage = boy racer Cool plans, ive got a mk2 4door escort waiting for a quick 'patch up' resto at the moment. Only gonna be a 1300 and the lowest quote i got was £1800 ! (from confused.com - i know thats not the be all and end all though ) then after a year gonna slot my turbo engine in hopefully god only knows when ill be able to insure the harrier good luck with getting a chevette, nice cars
Doesnt matter what you have you'll be raped for the 1st few years and even think about getting a driving conviction!!
just get some cobra monacos, they are about £120ish each theres no need to spend £500 on 2 seats for a first car. maybe even try to find some newish 2nd hand seats, if you look around you can find some real good deals on 2nd hand seats.
I'll need to take alook on Confused.com at a Chev's insurance, yeah the Roll Cage will stay well away from my car, we don't want them thinking boy racer do we? not like ill be going sideways or anything?
Thanks for the info, i will be sure to look, i was thinking Sparco's as i love their style, only to find the ones i like cost a mighty £450 each!! Cobra Monacos sound in the question at the minute
Well, making up the details, about my date of license etc etc, as im not old enough to aquire one yet and i don't understand any of it my cheapest quote on Confused.com was 3.2k LOL!!! So ill check a Classic Car insurer now!
what mods did you put down?? i think all i had was lowered ? classic car isurance is for over 21's iirc
Waheeeeyyy, Not so bad now, on moneysupermarket.com i found i can get insured, Fully Comprehensive, whatever the fuck that means, for £1586 annually, included Personal Accident cover, Courtesy Car, Windscreen cover etc, and for a first car, and a classic that is not bad! you think i a 1.1 Fiesta, shitrustbucket can cost 2.5k to insure, is this a good quote? I really don't understand any of this milarky, so could someone please rewrite it for me in easy terms, I'd be extremelly grateful. Pic below {}
No mods at all, i think i just didn't understand the insurance lingo but i'm sure i will when it comes to the time of getting my license
Dont go dropping all your cash on unneeded stuff. Weld the diff and fit lowering springs first. Then build from there. If your seats unsupportive replace it for a cheap bucket, but you dont need to replace the passengers seat. Dont buy new Webers either. Get a decent set of secondhand ones for £2-300, sell on the manifold and buy one to fit your car. In all honesty though, it wouldnt even benefit from one so i wouldnt bother. A cage will be more then £300 unless you come across a bargain, and youll be lucky to find minilites or revo's for £140, youre looking more like £300. Your best bet is to buy one set of nice wheels and a few sets of cheap weller steelies in 13x6 or whatever your front is for £50-£100.
