is that true!? I thought what it was whatever platform the car was currently running which was relavent. That sucks if so. I'd love to see a Polo G60 coupe converted to rwd with pimp dish and stretched tyres
nah, I want an old manky golf syncro, cos then the floorpan's all sorted and read y for something where we can just drop an engine, box, diff and rear suspension in and just get a custom prop made up. It'd need to be a total street sleeper with everything as normal VW spec looking as possible, but a 20b or something doing the business
i'm honestly amazed that there isn't a Sierra Cosworth competing .. seem pretty much perfect for the job ? .. Stavros im guessing the Ford boys aren't really that interested in the scene yet ?
if i had money for cossie it would be on its way... tatty sapphy cossie with a few goodies, coilys, cage, safety shit, then just need to be able to drive it ha. im a grassroots drifter anyway so il stick to my p100 with commercial pinto engine ha... or when i get another engine my "well sorted" 4 door bmw with "a massive" 220bhp. im being serious, but nobody on here would see that with their 500bhp JDM coilover goggles on
Man that would be the nuts, Some of the old dubs with the euro thing going on are just awesome, it would be amazing to see one flying around on oposite lock!
Pat McDonagh over here is drifting a black 3 door Sierra Cosworth very well at the moment. Almost knocked Mulvey out of Round 3 there a few weeks ago if he didn't spin on the last corner lol. Is good to see something different out there for sure, the cossie looks cool
Only downsides is poor rear suspension setup (non adjustable without changing to a GrpA rear beam, and severely toes out and cambers in if lower much in std setup), and severe lack of steering lock (sorted, but not easily, involving moving the ARB mounts and modding the subframe). Upsides is mainly the best 2litre 4cyl engine there is And the fact stuff is MEGA MEGA cheap compared to jap stuff. Id love to see a proper 3dr Cossie drifter in D1GB. If I wasnt so stupid that I sold mine and bought the GTR there bloody would be
interesting stuff Steve ... didn't know that about the GrpA beam ... Sierra or Escort Cosworth would be fantastic to see .. i think it would add a real GB slant on the D1 ...
ahh sorry Nelo .. missed your post dude .. will go and have a look for pics .. Sierra Cosworths are so so cool.
Theres either the genuine GrpA version or a couple of versions that do the same thing made by other companies. Costs between 600quid and a grand, depending on version, and TBH thats not bad as it makes it ALL adjustable Plenty of EscCossies converted to RWD in the UK already, and an easy job to do. Dont know why as I love 3dr's the most, but I fancy doing a Saff drifter, but probably with a turbo'd ford V8 rather than a YB, just cause A= I have 2 here, and B= I always wanted to.
Pug looks mad, But I reckon it will be fookin horrible to drift. They had issues with a light rear as standard, so with a whacking great 2jz plus all the associated bits stuck out the front should be even worse. Never mind the fact the wheelbase must be a foot or more shorter than S bodies, which are known for understeer when RB'd. Should make a phenomenal fast car, but totally unsuited to drift imho. For the cheap cost and general quality of handling as standard Im amazed no one has done a turbo carlton gsi or similar. Or even dare I say it a capri with irs and a cossie lump - you must be able to get decent lock on them mine spent 50% of its life "on the rack" J.
