if you wanna replace the hadlex every comp then have a crack at it  Trouble with it is, its fwd until it detects wheel spin, then lobs the power to the back, which is just plain ghey but im sure some mad head engineer could graft an sr2o into it or something simlar. theres planty of 500 - 600 bhp 4wd mk4 golf rallycross cars out there, just need to junk the front driveshafts and away u go lol
TBH, it wouldnt cost a huuuuge amount to make a mega powered RWD vauxhall alternative. The rear axle would be slightly limiting I guess, same as the Fords, but other than that..... go go go.
Old Fords and Vauxhalls are made to slide. Ever since they switched to Fwd theyve been a bit lame. And the Escorts (mk1 + 2's) where made to rally, not the normal ones, but the Mexicos and RS's, so surely, with some adaptation they can drift? Same goes for cossies.
now a spli screen rat style camper in D1 with scooby power (which slots straight in) as does the porsche lump would be awesome! imagine it, split screen camper or drop side dropped 13 inches and smokin em sideways how pimp???? trouble is your looking at 6k upwards for one thats knackered!! or.. imagine one of these classic veedub fastbacks giving it death D http://videos.streetfire.net/video/39e6d492-0368-4b79-b2bc-b4ab2f79e54f.htm
Like ive said befuckingfore. ANY rear drive car drifts. Sierras DONT drift brillaint tho compared to most stuff. Apart from lack of steering lock, the main thing is the severe way the suspension changes once you lower it from stock height (thru lowering or susp squat). Like most cars, it cambers in n toes out, which is happy days if want it to be tail happy, but it way more severe than most cars, which makes drifting suck. Not adjustable without diff' rear beam either. Vaux RWDs are way better susp wise as the rear geometry is adj as std.
on the omega, you can drop a 5.7 v8 straight in... you can even buy the engine mounts for it from vaux themselves... as in the states the omega came with the 5.7 as std bit of food for thought
Err, no they didnt. They were sold in the States for a few years as the Cadillac Catera but only ever came with the 3litre V6 and an autobox...
Time for a little something different? I've kept my eye on this car for the last week or so expecting it to reach silly money but its not been bid on yet and there's no reserve. If I had the cash spare right now I'd have bid on it myself. ebay linky
What? Theres NOTHING about an american Omega with a 5.7 V8 on that thread. There is a link to a car with german plates, but dont say that it was a production car. All the other cars mentioned are big GM 4doors, but not an Omega and not even based on one. I dont see your point.
noones forgotten about the chevette, weve discussed them plenty of times before. noone uses them though probably cos they dont like rust and a chevette wasnt built by a japanese man.
Mk2 Golf Syncros, aren't haldex, thats the new r32/TT's ect. Syncros use a viscous rear diff, that detects slip between the front and rear wheels, ditching the front driveshafts will see the drive train shitting itself through it own arsehole in no time. Fuck sr20 in a VW, that seems to be the answer to every thing on here, 'got a problem sr20 it'...a 1.8T would be more than up to the job. Being a VW nut myself, I will get hold or a mk2 syncro before they disapper off the face of the earth, but I'm just gonna go, BMW 318i lump, with box and diff, no fucking around, just weld it in where it touches, and drift the bitch, just need to sell some of my other cars, and raise a little cash...
do not fear the MIGHTY starlet WILL be making a come back in 2007!!! and im also building 3 more, with talks ongoing with sponsers/drivers there just may be 2 entered in the eurodrift and 2in the d1 next year!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you mean the track arms, they only came in on the 24v Carltons and as standard on the meeegas Lower models didnt have em. You can get adjustable bushed to vary the toe and camber on the rear a bit tho But anyhoooooo, the V6 can be good for 400bhp if supercharged with a touch of thought. Who needs a V8 eh?
