Hey guys, I'm Paul, from down under Australia, so its been a while since I've posted here. For the past year I've been completely without any form of modified car. The girlfriend and I made a small deal (and myself) that I won't be doing anything until at least the end of 2014, as I had other things on my mind. However that took a slightly different turn as of recent. But before I get to that, let me recap a little history with you all. I got my first 31 back in October 2012, after my R33 was written off by a lovely lady who lost control coming up a residential street. She then proceeded to rear end it at 60k's (the 33 liked it :dcool: ). Long story short, the 33 was only good for parts. Until that moment, I had never thought about getting a box, yet there was something about it when I was taken for a test drive :hsugh: Then I ended up getting the 31. It needed a lot of tidying up, loved it to bits, spent money, had bi*ches all dat jazz. Had quite high mileage which unfortunately was combined with chassis flex that was only seen when jacked up on a two post hoist or a single side jack. Here is a limiter video Then one day I got really tired of spending money on it, and sold it as it ended up spending more time in the shop then out. Blowing headgasket to tuning issues, to having turbo's shit themselves. The people who bought the car, ruined it as it was not tuned and blew up the motor / turbo / gearbox in a couple of runs on the street. "It wen't hard" is the last thing I heard from the several owners it had after me. Every single one wanted information on the motor and on the specs of every detail in the car. Which obviously I was not willing to give out over and over, so after 4-5 people I had given up. A year and a bit passed, and I was wanting to fully quit the car game, as it got on my nerves too much. However... the box...is too stronk.. So on that note welcome Mr 518KOO #2, we have nicknamed it Goldie because gold Little drop down on the car, -------------------------------------------------------------- 96,000 kms 2 Owner Stock standard grandpa mobile (Get in m8) Slipping on some auto Bacardi. 3.89 single spinner diff After a little bit of polishing, the paint came up mint Now I am not used to driving a non turbo 30, so this is going to be an experience and a half for a bit until..well the inevitable So here it is! Goldie the rebirth, funnily enough I still have my old plates
So on the first day of the weekend I stuck into cleaning the bloody filthy thing Dat ass Got rid of the stereo and the speakers as they won't be used Was a little surprised at where it was made Got rid of the Mudflaps Vacuumed everything Will be polished Decided to address little bits at a time Cleaning the boot seal was very quick and easy and as usual being low mileage, ended up looking and feeling like new No towbar On the list of things..which is very long and tedious is the front and rear windscreens both will be replaced So this happened, pretty much a week later, got em off of Seb and his coupe Yes I took it with a potato Had to hide them from the girlfriend for awhile though.. Now you see em..now you don't Cleaned off all the old crap Really didn't know which I had liked better pretty much as soon as I got them, as on my old car I got rid of them for some odd reason. Got rid of the old series garnish Fitted the Afterburners. Got ready to drill the holes and to fit the import garnish
Then started on the front end I had planned this look for a long time So picked up the front end off Matty Including import front and rear bumpers off a series 1 passage - - - Updated - - - However, the longer I looked at it, the more I started to miss series 3. Started on the front end. Got hold of a GTS2 Genuine bar with a bit of fiberglass on top, needs a repair here and there but a score either way. Fiberglass GTS Grill
:dcool: Started it for the first time since a couple of weeks ago, had to get another battery for it as it went flat, but let it run for a bit just to put it through its paces since its been sitting for quite some time, all went well. Putting on a Italian Leather Style wrap. Tag Arrived, just waiting to put in the new windscreen / reseal Rear rims arrived I will however, try to find some 15x9 or 10 watanabe's for the rear to replace them sooner or later, but for now this will do. 15x10 -0 Getting the guards done by a shop when its ready to get on the road. Bought some 15x8-4 Superlite's for the front Got them wrapped in some fresh Federal 595's Compared to my old 31's choice of steelies for the front, ew. Current Old I guess I have a thing for red bonnets? haha --------- I am still adding things to the list but anyway, at least to get it started. Was going to do the rear guards myself, made a start then decided not to, so went out and got a quote from a panel shop down the coast, 800$ for the rear custom size welded on flares, painted drive in drive out. Well, have been trying to find some 245 or 255/50/15's to keep the rolling diameter and get me some clearance above the rails as well as a bit of traction in third for when the turbo gear gets put together, pretty much the same but no one seems to make tires in that size unfortunately. Got some Nankang 225/50/15's fitted on Friday and balanced on Saturday on the 10's And a nice Photo Bombage from my Shepherd Stay tuned!
Cheers Sean, going to try to keep this thread from being dead Yeah its my 5th Nissan in general Gotta love the skylines I figured I'd put up a bit of pics of some of the R31's. Majority are from Ausland, but some are from Japan. Enjoy Partycat R31 Australia Jason Ferron also Ausland transformation's
This is a favorite of mine, because it is pretty much the style that I want to follow. Justin Fankhouser's Ausdel Ausland. That car went onto another owner which went through several transformations, before going under the knife and is now still being worked on with a built motor etc.
That is fucking awesome. So much love for r30/31's, when I was in oz I saw loads, still seriously thinking about importing one! Keep the updates coming dude!
What kind of wheels are these??? I saw them on an 86 in Ireland, but they never said the brand. Love the way they look and would like to get some for my 86. These wheels too In high school I had an 2dr R30 Skyline. I loved it. two tone red and black. FRP sideskirts and front bumper, wide wats. RS grill and seats. I was looking for an ironface frontend for her, but had to sell her cause I moved. Wish I had kept her
Gotta love a 31, more love for more door Looks sweet buddy what are the plans ultimately for the engine? 31 Turbo lump or different engine?
Hey Hinga, yeah R30's are love R30's are life, the ones from the dark blue one are Performance Superlite wheels. | Home Page and the ones from Jason Ferron's ride, are 17x10 VCP-S5R's Thanks mad.matt I am definitely a big fan of the rb30's, especially considering mine made 473ftlb of torque at 4100 rpm with a VG30 turbo, didn't make much hp though because it just ran out of puff in the high RPM's, but spinning 2nd and 3rd in the dry with 235 /245's was certainly fun. These blocks have the turbo drain bung already tapped in, which means I don't have to pull the motor out to do a turbo conversion, and it becomes all bolt on / custom fab.
Have been a bit busy with work lately with little want to go out in the rain but ended up picking this up for 80$ R31 Louvers Wanted to cut it into a roof spoiler but thinking I will keep it as a whole this time around. Direza.
Yeah they are a great car, pity the Australian models were plagued with rust behind the guards and sun fade, compared to their Japanese counterpart. Took the daily for a little drive to pick the louver up, it is starting to as the expression goes "tow the invisible caravan", as its got a auto gearbox in the boot, and a variety of wheels and tyres in the boot / back seat. Noticed the left afterburner is filling up with water on one side, so going to have to rectify. This is what they look like on a complete car So I just test fitted it when I got it home Originally planning and thinking on the way home that I was going to simply cut it off to turn it into a roof lip, however the longer I thought about it, and after actually trying it on, I do however really like the colours of gold / black Cleaned out the entire car since I had a ton of parts in it pretty much used it as a storage as it had been sitting for awhile in my boat ramp and made a start on taking all of the automatic bits and bobs out. Manual conversion time! Going to be getting the four door cards rewrapped, as well as a few other bits and pieces, and going to find another centre console that actually has a lid. A few friends of mine really want me to get it on the road by Skyline Nationals here in October, but it may not happen in such a short duration, unless I push for it. Also a couple more photos of my friends and mine, Nathan's rig, now gone to a S1 passage front end along with different side skirts and a hakosuka wing instead of a duck tail. Friends Michael's motor currently getting built, scheduled to be dropped into his daily 31 sedan mid September this month. He has with a little bit of my perseverance and trade price parts made the effort to not cut corners. ----------------------------------------- Forged RB30ET Bored and honed block VLT Oil Pump Forged Pistons Fresh race bearings Blue Printed. Permaseal Head Gasket ARP Head Studs Custom front facing plenum XF Throttlebody Nistune ECU Z32 MAF Powerspirit GT30/35? .63 rear, I don't quite remember. VLT low mount Manifold 440cc GTR Injectors --------------------------------------- Another pic of the blue 31 And a bit of a spoiler on the colour scheme that I am planning, was a no brainer really. Last but not least, allow me to introduce the cat Thor, he makes all the executive decisions Direza
Alright has been a busy week. One of our 31ers got a little unfortunate with what happened recently, resulting in their car getting taken off the road for 90 days and getting done with quite a few fines for a bit of snakey action. So he ended up deciding to part with it, and parted it out within a day. I picked up the full front S13 Front conversion. (His pics) Rotors 500km old Nolathaine bushes all over And last but not least is the Centre Console with a lid Also got a full manual conversion kit off him too, but haven't got that out of his car yet, so no photos. Stay tuned!
