Id love one of these! Im a sucker for boxy nissans!, The gold is tops too! Any more progress on this?
Thanks everyone Well it's time to spill the beans! From To From To Full leather rewrap, picking up the glovebox tomorrow. Me and a friend are pulling the manual gear out of his skyline this weekend which is going into mine RB30E Gearbox Exedy Heavy Duty Clutch etc
Alright had an eventful weekend, and a slow recovery from a pretty strong hangover after Friday night Stuck into it with my friends car on Saturday afternoon after missing a couple of alarms, got the gearbox and the rest of the manual gear out, Found a pleasant surprise as well, the gearbox is an rb20det box not an rb30e box, On Sunday went out for lunch and afterwards ended up getting stuck into fitting up all of the interior. Should be getting the dash back on Monday from the upholstery Aaannnd Got to order a new clutch kit at work and throw out bearing as well as degrease and paint the gearbox, if anyone has any clutch recommendations for 350-400 hp and about 500-600 ftlb torque, please feel free to share. Direza
Some progress pictures of the dash all finished up, just awaiting for a few final things to arrive to fit up the last pieces of the interior, then can start pulling my automatic gear out into the bin Direza
Yeah I haven't seen any with a uk plate on them. And speaking of plates currently awaiting on mine to arrive! US style / Jap colouring : D
Completely forgot to mention this too, got some new mirrors, thought about going ganadors but not my kind of thing So my old R33 that was written off has these in storage for 2 and a half years fully forgot about them. Also got some new mirrors off my old R33, have been in storage for the past 2 and a half years, I fully forgot about them!
Look poss abit rounded for a 31 but they may look ok. Plates look awesome unlike UK yellow n white.but least we don't have to display tax disc as of today :-)
Oh surprisingly as you say that, as of 1st of October we don't have to display our registration labels as well over in Queensland, yeah they are a tad round but I'm not a huge fan of the standard ones or the ganador's as are on this pic of partycat that are 300-400$. So hopefully they are a mix of inbetween? Shall see how it goes, will be the same colour as the body so won't stand out as much, when the car goes in for panel and paint.
SO Ebay not even once... it makes you buy things, but I did want to finish certain parts first, which in this case is interior, so first things first So without further 'adeu' small update of what's to come! Got some cog gears to repair the new cluster, which is 6 gauge, compared to old 4 gauge. I am a fan of simple interiors, so not wanting any dildo gear knobs The boot was non existent on the new box, so was a must Finally an actual short shifter. On my old 31 with the two 30 boxes I had a cut down shifter, which proved really irritating when trying to fit any gear knob. Figured I'd spoil myself a little. I found these on ebay and they look great. So instead of paying 200-300$ for a larger one which is still gonna get in the way, I decided to opt for a smaller option. Last but not least, wasn't really 'needed' but felt the need to haha Some neck rests, which I always wanted to get but always had super comfortable seats. Will be looking for some R33 GTS or GTST seats soon with a retrim into the usual theme of leather and black After getting home today, and cleaning off all of the old padding around the air conditioning vents which was falling to pieces and getting all the double sided tape off I ended up vacuuming and wiping the crap out of the old vents behind the dash, then stuck into refitting the dash, glove box and wiring. I got the wrong glove box wrapped when it was in the upholsterers so had to change the insides as the dummy one has a cut for the ecu relocation from a friend. Original out of my car. Old mounts Still going to have to rewire a lot of plugs and pull new wires through for the facelift buttons etc but that gives me time before the rest of the stuff arrives for me to finish fitting it all back together.
So a few things arrived Sun gears for the cluster's odo Not that I have to change them but may as well only costs 25$ to change so if you do it its done for good. Couldn't resist and bought a mirror this morning 300mm come @ me Aaaaaand last but not least My plates turned up...so...I shall leave you with this for the long weekend Direza
Hey Mint, inside your speedometer, is an odometer assembly. In this case its made by VDO, which wears out and breaks off teeth off the gears that get driven by the little motor after 27 years its bound to break. However, all that happens is it prevents your odometer from working.
Isnt that a good thing? lol. Cool though Iv never seen them before. I rather like that it looks like a small sun
Figured I'd get things into gear and moving, or shall I say...removing. On jack stands and a jack. Automatic out and all of its goodies.
Next up was the cluster repair and upgrade. Going from a four gauge to a six gauge cluster isn't really a big deal since i'll be using external gauges for majority of things anyway, but they do have some nice perks for the eye. Such as green backing not yellow / orange causing white bulbs to look like a dull yellow and not a clean and crisp white / blue / green. Speedometer assembly out Reset mileage OVERRR 9000!! Here is how the sun gears looked, a little worse for wear. New clean rear backing plastic and all assembled and checked over. Picked up a new horn on Friday morning. Also picked up an 'experimental' rear seat, its out of a lexus but should fit, if not its going to be a couch in my garage for when me and the missus move into our new place. Speaking of which will be happening fairly soonish, so will be relocating everything into a garage! finally my own garage for once, compared to our old place with a carport only, which proved difficult to do anything major in a gated community complex.
