One of the most thrilling bits of racing I have ever seen. Seriously close racing, GT cars, laguna seca and HD - what else do I need to say . . . YouTube- Exciting GT2 finish at Laguna Seca
What´s your opinion regarding the last turn? I know that those bumps in bumper are part of racing and temper while racing... But did it justifies the move the porsche guy did? That was dangerous... hehehe
I heard that the Corvettes had been knocking people off the track all weekend, and ended more than a few peoples race day. Tried it again. Fuck you.
the move the corvette did was a age old trick, on the last corner, as the porche moved accross to defend his line - it was up to the corvette driver to decide weather her wanted to back off or go for it. he went for it.. as soon as they made contact - both drivers would have had not alot of control and jsut floored it, and this was the result.
thats wat racing is all about but i do think the porsche guy took it a bit far. Theres defending your line and then theres DEFENDING YOUR LINE
I'm pretty sure though, a lot of people on here would have done the same thing.. if you've been dogged for an age by someone who's really getting on your nerves, and then tries to basically kick you in the nuts on the last corner, you're gonna kick back.. ..Fair play I reckon.
I'm not sure the porsche didn't dab the brakes as the corvette was on full lock to avoid going into the wall. Result, P.I.T. If so, the porsche driver is my hero.
The guy in the porsche is Jorg Bergmeister and this is what happened in 2007 YouTube- 2007 12 Hours of Sebring Now let me ask you, would you bump Bergmeister in the last corner of the last lap. Hell no!!! But the corvette driver thought he could get away with it, serves him right
gah, these are both reposts, though do justify their own thread. i put both of these vids on the old school dtm thread to show that real racing does still exist. i was literally on the edge of my seat when i first watched both of those vids.
Wow these GT2 drivers really aren't afraid of going all or nothing! I think it was all fair game to be honest - Bergmeister fought hard to keep his place and after overtaking and then being told to drop back the corvette driver must have believed the win was his; as he pulled away so quickly. So he tried the last thing he could to take the place but Bergmeister still had an answer. Defend your place whatever the cost!
Seriously.....what line is he defending? He obviously knows he´s got the slower car down the straight, and note how he provokes the tail hit by hitting the brakes on entry to the final corner. In my opinion, the Porsche driver takes it too far.....he´s not defending a line, he´s putting him to the wall to defend his position. But hey....Corvette driver DID provoke him the last couple of laps, but THATS racing. IMHO
Rubbing's racing, crashing isn't. Bergmeister took it too far, the Vette was infront at the point of impact anyway it looked like. You can't invoke a crash just because you fucked up your brake checking/braking too early. He could have avoided the whole incident quite easily and won fairly. Vette was obviously way faster though, he should have won it. Anyone know if Bergmeister got shafted by the officials for it?
what do you suggest he does? most people brake into corners... fair play i say, he didnt brake check harshly as he was driving for the line, As said, the other drivers choice to try and hold it out down the straight. fucking epic racing either way!
I wasn´t there, but it sure looks like he brakes a bit more than what one would expect. Look at it again, the Porsche looses a lot of speed all of a sudden, and therefore causing the hit. I don´t know, it´s just the way I call it.....and you´d have to agree....whats the reason for pulling left into the vette, obviously there´s no more corners before the finish line. What we can agree on though, is the epic racing.....awesome stuff
