So im test driving one of these at the weekend, Anyone got or driven one that can tell me what to expect ?
expect to be underwhelmed and craving a turbo. drives and steers really nice. light on it's toes and chuckable but needs 100bhp more
Imo, they are under-powered for what they are, we will see, as my first possible rwd car it might be a good thing seeing as i could end up investing a LOT into one.
fuck i forgot about that stupid ressonance box which channels induction noise into the cabin at high rpm
No disrespect to you or Vinny (who has the one in that link up there) but why buy a brand new, cutting edge car and immediately start throwing bits at it? If you just want to go fast you could buy an R34 GTR or a 997 turbo for that money .......
From the other point of view, I'm quite glad people are doing this, so when I can afford to buy one, the R&D has been done.
I like to lead not follow Hence the BMW Turbo as well I didnt need a fast car as i have the R32 GTR and BMW all i wanted was a car which i think will be a future classic. So far i changed the wheels and suspension because the OE ones are awful Samco Hoses are going on to get rid of the noise generator and ECUtek will be on for its flat foot shifting and to try to smooth out the torque dip
I mever intended to chuck bits at it starightaway, maybe some different wheels as the standard ones suck !
The guys at litchfields-imports do an awesome supercharger kit for it and gives you 100hp over standard . They are already trying to increase their performance from it though so could be more like 150/200 over standard soon!!
Noise generator ? Is this the induction noise i read about earlier ? And what do you mean by flat foot shifting ? Lol
EcuTek - Flat-foot Shifting - - - Updated - - - Litchfields Supercharger kit is nice but quite a way behind Gazoo Racing who have a twin charged version.
Well get the R32 GTR back on the road then Vinney Loving the car btw, if I get the company car scheme at work think I'll be checking these out!
They sound like a tumble dryer at high rpm. They are slow but handle really well. The dash is cheap, the seats are good. An E36 328 sport would kill one. Save 23K and buy an E36 M3.
They are such a bad car, everyone who has commented on them has owned one so they know them inside out. They are so bad that SEMA and TAS were packed full of them. Creaks and snags are bound to happen on a brand new car. Hell it happened to the godly GTR with its Bellhousing issues. Buy an E36 M3 thats been ragged to death and has 150k miles on the clock then when the engine blows spend another 1.5k on a new engine and so the list goes on. Break a GT86 and its free to fix because you have a 5 year warranty. Buying a new car cant be compared to buying an old car.
Warranty only affects the part that breaks/fails. If you change wheels and your engine blows up then you're fine.
depends on the garage some stop your warranty if anythings been changed, also if you are paying the car up you dont own it
Hey ! I never mentioned anything about buying one just yet, just testing the waters, as im 6ft 4 and close to 19stone i figured hell just see if im comfortable in one first. Then maybe juuust maybe talk monies. And to all those saying theyre slow theyre this and that !!! Who gives a monkey !? I absolutely admire the gt86 have done since early concept images, so why would i want it to go a gazillion mph when i can go slow and let others admire those damn sexy curves she got !
