{} just after some advice on what everyone’s using in their headlights my s14 come with some sort of hid kit and one of the bulbs have blown ( both bulbs were useless anyway) Obviously with the darker evenings now here it’s not ideal driving home with one headlight on full beam lol. Can anyone recomend a good hid kit or some replacement bulbs, this is the one I removed
Those don't look like HID bulbs, they look like some mega shit Chinese LED ones. Generally HID bulbs in normal headlight housings don't work well, loads of glare for other road users and issues with MOT's. Some LED kits claim to have good light output and proper beam patter - but you're looking at about £100 for those ones! Stick a set of (Genuine) Osram Nightbreaker bulbs in, they have much better light output that is good enough for most people. (Also check you're getting decent voltage at the headlight plug)
Osram Bulbs should be a direct replacement, as long as you have stock wiring for the headlights. I don't know what bulb type you need for Silvia lights though.
Roughly similar to battery voltage I would have though, near 12V on ignition and 14ish when the car/alternator is running.
I purchased the osram night breaker unlimited and after fitting them there is no doubt they put out more light than the ones in there but they are a halogen yellow colour when I was expecting more of a xenon white is this how they are supposed to be?
Touch of Yellow to them as they are Halogen bulbs, but the light output is about as good as you can get without going HID. MTEC offer a super-white bulb that has less yellow in it?
I just got a set of h4 bi led bulbs for my truck and they make it amazing especially full beam. Can get them on evay for £20 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/172408691768
We are being sold LED bulbs as an 'upgrade' in reality they are a compromise to electric cars. Osram Nightbreakers will keep you legal (don't overlook the penalties for blinding on-coming traffic especially if they crash and can pin the blame on you) HID kits offer the same problems as LED's namely an inability to self level.
