HKS 6 Speed Dog Leg Dog Box So the story of the gearbox: Bought this off a friend that was running it on a rover V8 hence the weird bell housing. It got stuck in gear and he didn't have the time to fix it so I purchased it off him and have had it professionally overhauled by Competition Transmission Services. Appeared to be something loose inside which has now been fixed, according to CTS the dogs inside were in very good condition and all that had to be done was it to be tightened up and new seals all round. Was going to keep this for my S13 but unfortunately I can't justify it at the moment. I spoke to HKS and was originally for a SR20DET. Price: £3k open to offers Will try to answer any questions as best I can. Thanks for looking {} {} {}
The dogs inside? Is this a helical gears box or dog (spur gears)? Do they have synchros? Also, what is the ratio?
To be honest mate im not sure, it was made for an sr20det so it is more than likley that a standard bellhousing will line up but dont quote me on that
Cheers mate, mines all ready to go apart from the bellhousing, how much is a custom bellhousing? £500?
That is what they were asking for it.... Here's another for your information: http://sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?582677-Genuine-HKS-5-Speed-H-pattern-Dog-Box-gt-SR20-Fitment
Hi John, Purely to help you try to sell this if you really do "need it gone" then I would suggest asking an actual price. Because; 1 - suggesting this box is £6ooo.oo probably puts off every potential purchaser as there are other boxes out that are arguably better, new, for less. 2 - that sort of money wipes out pretty much any sale on this forum as most dont have that kind of budget 3 - with the greatest respect, that box is worth nowhere near that money and similar boxes have sold for considerably less 4 - alot of people wont want to insult you when perhaps their offer might be fair So I would put a price you are happy with and then see if anyone will actually bid or buy, personally I would suggest the price starts with a number 3 !!! Good luck.
Good Point. A Quaife QBE60G isn't far off that price (providing you can drive a sequential...) And if you have 6k to spend on a gearbox, you'd not be shy of a few extra quid for something better. Either way its a nice box and GLWS.
Seeming you can do a cd009 swap for half the price or less surly the value has gotta be around £2000 tops?
