It goes off area not diameter. So for one three inch pipe you have a cross sectional area of 7.06 inch square. So you need two pipes with a cross sectional area of 3.5 inch square, each. A 1.5" pipe has an area of 1.76 inch square, a 2.125" pipe has a cross sectional area of 3.54 inch square.
Ahh yeah of course. I feel bad as im supposed to be an engineer. But feck it, it sits high! Had a problem after I fitted my manifold, this random canister that goes between a takeoff on the camcover and a pipe into the block didnt fit anymore: Heres how it fitted with the standard manifold (right hand side, above the turbo elbow): With manifold fitted it wouldnt fit anymore: So i set about just linking the two together and leaving the canister out. Looked through my pile of a/c shite and saw this 90 degree bend: Sorted! Started it up and it doesnt drone like I thought it would, thank fuck! Some weird clear "juice" bubbled out between the turbo-manifold joint, which worried me, dont know what the hell it was but it dried off after 10 seconds and its not leaking!! Took it down the road to make sure it was all cool, runs fine without the lambda and sounds awesome!! Not droney whatsoever, just pretty raspy on chat, well happy. Theres a leak at the downpipe-decat joint but I cant get the car high enough to do them up properly tight. Gonna take it down the exhaust place so they can widny gun them tight once I get the v5 through, which I was hoping would be here today!! Want to get it all plated up for Japfest this weekend. Anyone know if Halfords do import sized plates??
both of you are kind of wrong on the pipe situation that will give you the sameish diameter but you get alot more frictional loss with 2 smaller pipes. so to get the same you need to have them abit bigger again.
Oh fair play. Where did you source it from? Fitment is spot on...just thinking into the future, I have told myself I will have another sx of some sort and it will be low Oh, and if you're after plates, there's a place in southampton that will make any size you want while you wait without asking any questions
Might treat myself to a new fuel pump. What the fuck. In other news, ive got an arch roller so will be fitting my wheels tomorrow aiiiiiit!
I got hold of an arch roller on Thursday night last week and did the archwork on the Friday. Really happy with it. Got away with an average sized pull and minimal flair on the rears, and just a roll on the front. Theres some room to dial out some camber in the backs now too. Thanks to robbs for doing a the majority of the pulling Maxed out the rear's too and im really happy im tucking a fair amount of tyre. The flair looks quite big in the pic but its just the reflection. Got the v5 through on Saturday so took it out. The return line to the tank split as the rubber hose meets the hardpipe of the floorpan at the back. Conking me out on the motorway, managed to limp the car to a sliproad and got rescued by a mate with some tools, chopped the split bit back and had to kind of over stretch the remaining fuel line back on. Went fine after that no problems. Replaced with some proper hose next morning. Then I went "out" in it last night and it was pretty awesome up until the mani-turbo joint started blowing - fuck. Off outside to take it all off again.
fucking badass! how much was it to get the arches rolled? and where did you find somewhere that had a tool?
Cheers dude! From your experience with turbo-mani gaskets would you reuse this sucka? Is still solid, it was just the nuts werent overly tight! gonna get some metal locking ones and beast them on.
lol i had this exact problem with my tubro/mani gasket for about a year i battled with it, every time i drifted it or evey 100 miles i had to do something with it. ended up with it coming loose and alot of this going on i wouldnt bother re using them, at all id just ring up your local nissan and get them to get 3 or 4 in, so you have spares there about £17 each. i tryed normal nuts, FT setting the kinked k stlye nuts, Binx uper locking nuts as in dont come undone ever. with and w/o washers. i even made my own tab washers as i couldnt get hold of oem ones. still no joy (so im on my 6/7th gasket.) (4th or 5th set of studs) youll probably realise if they come loose for any length of time they flatten the threads. in the end i was so fed up and it had runied 3 drift days i had paid for. i took all the stuff i had to mitch at drift garage, told him to get a new manifold, make sure the face wasnt warped (take my old on in p/x) and do everything you can bloody think of to stop it coming undone. the main reason i wen tthere is because i cant weld. iirc he, used new gaskets, new studs, oem tab washers, binxs locking nuts id give him, and dabbed a spot of weld on to stop them coming undone. AND really important on your new exhaust, make sure it has a mount by the gearbox, touch wood so far they aint come undone!!! so if your having probs make sure you have everything on that list^ might be able to get away without the weld.
Well I just went ahead and ordered a braided line kit and some metal locking nuts from driftworks so I hope that'll do the trick. The gaskets are on back order at my local nissan, i'll try reusing this one as im confident its still decent. If it leaks someone feel free to kick me in the face for not replacing it! I used some funky metal locking nuts when doing the gaskets on my last s13, and it was solid and still is. I'll make sure the studs are in tight and go ballistic chuck norris tight when doing them back up, still got the locktabs so fingers crossed!! Sounds like you've had an awesome time with yours though eh!! Must be wizard quick getting it all on and off now haha. Was fun while it lasted though, the 2-way is ultra sweet, and the handbrake ultra turd. The gasket only started to blow when it was getting hot but it wasnt having any of it when i started getting on it. Going to try and get an s13 rear setup methinks.
errr pardon !!!!!!! EDIT: sorry tis ok, i noticed i got my shout further up there so i''ll let you off
