Hydraulic handbrake + Drum brakes???

    Does a hydraulic handbrake need discs or will it work ok with drums?

    Thanks for any info into this!

    If your car got hydraulic drum brakes on rear you plug in hydraulic handbrake and in theory it should work - if there are strong enough to lock wheels.

    On the other hand you should upgrade to disc if you really want to drift.

    That's my opinion.

    Dont mean to be mean at xmass but thats not ture wot your saying, hydraulic hadbrake will work very well with drum brakes, you dont need to upgrade to disc to drift that is bullsh1t!, i wish that only people that have worked on cars or know wot there talking about would give advice and not just wot pep's dream up or read from some one eles thats talking sh1t! :mad: :smash:

    No offence taken, I really didn't try/see any1 with drum-brakes on rear drifting - my bad. Didn't want to be miss-informative, thanks for straightening that up.

    I did originally put BMW, but never driven a e30 so edited it due to the above :D

    My drums are completely useless anything above 20mph, need discs!

    For the 86 guys over here they prefer the drums for the rear for drift. I've slid with both and also prefer drum. They instantly lock up, where with disk you gotta pull the shit out of it to get it to lock up.

    So may I ask why? I have an E36 and wanna get the hydraulic handbrake on it but why are E36-s bad for it like some are saying here? Just so I could gather more information cuz right now with my regular handbrake my wheels lock up perfectly.
