I had an MOT recently and he wouldnt even pass me with the normal handbrake with a drift button on as it has to work on the ratchet as standard.......didnt take long to sort out, all I got was 'what the fuck is that' about the hydro being there too

It's legal as long as you have a mechanic handbrake as well.

as said, you need a mechanical handbrake too, and not just cables to thre rear drums attatched to the hydro wand, it needs a mechanical method of locking the brake too,

a mate of mine on his mk1 escort has the cables attatched to his hydro wand but slackened off so they dont do anything, and has the little ratchet arm that comes with the handbrake kits still attatched so its an easy fix if the mot tester can be bothered to check.

oh yeah and the s13 handbrake is awsome but i still much much preferr the hydro, now that ive made a decent wand as all the kits come with that shite mashed potatoe lever that just bends and wears out in 0.2 of a second.
the main benefit i have with the wand is that you can put it in right place to jump to from the steering wheel. not miles away from where your hands are when on full flap mid corner thats just going that little bit too quick lol.
