With leaving the EU a few friends have said that it will become more harder and a lot more expensive to import cars from Japan.
do you know if there is any truth in this?

You have to ask the question, why would it be harder and more expensive? You deal directly with companies in Japan, and they land in the UK, all the paperwork is done in the UK. What input does Europe have?

Only difference is the exchange rate obviously. It will take several years before this country arranges any new trade deals with Japan that could affect taxes/import duty but they are a relatively small portion of the cost anyway.

We're still in the EU, things won't change until at least early next year.

It shouldn't change much at all.

It'll only become more expensive if our government start increasing import taxes and stuff, but that would be pretty silly because we import so much more goods than we export.
