Hello guys, during the installation of gearbox of Nissan 300ZX on my Nissan S14 SR20DET i faced a problem. Since the back of the gearbox of nissan 300ZX is thicker than the original gearbox, it creates pressure on the chassis and the back part of the engine has tilted down. Now my engine is tilted on the back side more that the front side, and it is not even.According to me one of the decisions is to put a little shorter mounts of the engine,so the front of the engine get even with the back of the engine or the other decision is to cut the chassis where the gearbox creates the pressure (near the shifter)? But i am just guessing.Does anyone have another decision?Has anyone with Nissan S14 SR20DET switched to a gearbox of 300ZX ? Please give me an advice ,what should i do to fix this problem? Thank you
What do you mean front part? Are you using a Mazworx plate or similar? You may need to beat the tunnel a bit to ease fitting but nothing major. Im running Apex and gear box mounts. With a homemade gearbox cross member and selector mount. Are you saying the back of the engine is touching the bulkhead and the gearbox is touching around the gear shifter?
