Unders your a proper fucking nut case lol. Looks awesome tho Wish i was still working on the island just to see this
It does need a proper test! Will have to wait till the brakes are fitted properly though. Unfortunately don't think I will have time till next weekend.
Finally got to test it! The event that we were going to test it at was cancelled due to snow. So we found a small area of private land. Some practice on a lower powered machine first Suited and booted! Ready, GO! After a few not so good runs we finally got the gears working properly. HOLY CRAP she is quick! Didn't really have the space to properly go for it but it was still a lot of fun. Problems: Oil leak. Apparently it's just breathing heavy since there is no airbox etc so I'll just need a catch tank. I'm yet to confirm this but I hope that's all it is. Rear sprocket hub isn't strong enough. The day of testing finished when the rear sprocket hub started spinning round the axle. The axle itself and keyway look to be fine. It's just the hub itself that died. Here is a small video John put together. More footage to follow...
Update time! Pretty much ready to rock at Ramsey Sprint on Tuesday. The whole back end has been pretty much rebuilt and the axle lowered about 3cm so it all sits evenly now (well sort of anyway). I don't have any fresh photos of this just yet. We also now have a mint fairing! Our first attempt at fibreglassing turned out quite well. Starting like this A bit of this Lots of this Just about ready for paint And while that's getting painted, I'm going to need a wheelie bar... And after spending waaaayyy too much time on an old granny mobile we are left with this John "The Anger" McNeil who has helped throughout the build was like a child at christmas when we took it out for a mini test run today. Will be giving it a full shakedown Monday ready for Tuesdays Sprint. I'll update this with a few more pictures after the test. And try and get a short video.
Mother of crikey! That thing is fully terrifying. In the fabrication stages did you weld anything up at the front or is that still as it came? Interested to know if you strengthened it or just welded the engine mounts to existing chassis? Awesome project.
this is pretty insane. me and a mate have built a go kart and put a 125cc engine in it, provided some good laughs for the neighbours. but feeling something like this is the next step!
Go kart disk brake of the rear. No brakes on the front. Don't need brakes, they only slow you down. Will post a couple of short videos in a min...
