Yeah I dunno about that one haha.

Add "Pray that all the running issues have magically disappeared from playing with the AFM"

Since the car has no MOT I can't test it on the road so I feel like I'm going into STL really blind. I can't even set up my EBC which I know is all over the place. Chances are too if the car is cutting boost again I'll be pulling the Greddy and running off actuator pressure.

EBC takes half hour to setup - use the road outside Driftland to do some 2nd gear pulls? They'll be good enough until you can find a nice 3rd gear stretch at a track sometime...

You drifting Thursday? Happy to leave a few marks on your door(Meaning you get to use your polishing pads again ;))

PS - Spring seating shits me up everytime aswell - especially when it's been left a few days since working on it, and I take it for its first drive and boom!

Aye tbh I'm just gonna set it up roughly like I did when I fitted the OLED in the Rockingham pits. Just more annoying that I can't set it up properly.
Aye I'm driving Thursday but I'm planning chasing a lot more, STL3 I felt like I was leading loads.

So here is my STL4 car update. I'll do a second post once all the media lads are done posting.

Flew up to Scotland on Tuesday night after work. Expected the car to not be too dirty since it hasn't turned a wheel since it was polished etc but with where it sits on my drive it was covered in shit from the trees so a quick wash was on the to do list.

    IMG_1988 copy.

First thing was to try and sort out my AFM piping... Last update on this issue the car ran fine with a super short AFM but Dan Joyce pointed out to me that it will give me fucked readings with being that short and to be honest if I need to run the AFM there something else was up!

Bought a 60* piece of intercooler piping and with a bit of angle grinding and hammering I was able to make this fit into my tub nicely in order to run this straight from my turbo 45* round the arch then the AFM with Apexi filter in the NSF pocket.

    IMG_1992 copy.

However when I went to get the MMIC piping back on I encountered a new issue, the piping doesn't fit with the AFM in that location and now its all solid I can't just bend it out of the way.

    Queue the angle grinder again...

    IMG_1993 copy.

    IMG_1994 copy.

Fitted a lot better. Hopped into the car, turned the key and started up then idled perfectly. Weird AFM fucky shit sorted.

    IMG_1998 copy.

Next up I went off and grabbed the trailer from the trailer hire. This was my first time towing since passing my test and I was completely oblivious to the fact a car transporter is going to be about 2 foot wider than the tow car so it got launched over a couple of kerbs on the way back to the house. It also can't get in and out of my drive because of how tight it is so me and my dad had to push it in and out which isn't great.

    IMG_1997 copy.

    Gave it a wash.

    IMG_2008 copy.

So since this was sorted all I really needed to do was bang it onto the trailer and drive down. So I did a couple extra bits to tidy things up.

Hit the calipers with a bit of the leftover paint from the VSXX refurb I did. Yes the prep for this was literally a 2 minute brush with a wire brush then painting it.

    IMG_2005 copy.

They are hilariously bad but at least they don't have shiney bits where i ground off the Nissan logos for the Minervas to fit.

Then I had also bought some blue tint for my headlights. My raybrigs are the blue tint already but I wanted a bit more. Worked out perfectly for what I wanted!

    IMG_2011 copy.

    IMG_2014 copy.

Few other bits I didn't take photos of were to re-do my drivers tint as it was done badly last time. Then fit a licence plate blank.

And then it was time to load up and go! Loading up onto the C4 was an absolute nightmare and it fell off 3 times, either from slipping on the metal after catching the exhaust or shooting out the wooden blocks. In the end I used a jack on the rear towing eye to get it up in the air then used the winch to pull it on.

    IMG_2018 copy.

Also being at the end of our driveway which is quite busy with people going to the stables up the road was a pain in the arse having to stop to let people get past etc.

The wee Yeeti towed an absolute beast. I was expecting it to be a total shiter and panicking the whole time but it took it well. Only struggled on a couple Highland inclines.

Arrived at Driftland dreading taking the car off the trailer after struggling to get it on... Sailed off no problem. seems we were just short of getting the right mix on the C4. 4" of wood ramps and the jockey wheel right up, car went straight off.

Last bit of prep was done by Josh of Graphix-D whilst I was in the drivers briefing, which was to fit my Glass Livery.

    IMG_2041 copy.

    IMG_2046 copy.

Had this planned since I decided to take it off the road. I know its going to divide opinion on my car and a lot of people have said its going to ruin my on-board footage but I'm not fussed. I wanted to do something different for a livery.

At this point I stopped taking photos cause I was s t r e s s e d. Took the car out for a first run and was mint, then after 2 minutes my AFR went off the scale rich and the car bogged right down to the point it was undriveable. Started investigating various sensors etc with some of the best SR20 tech's (Out to Norfy Freddie and Dan). Norfy noticed a boost clamp wasn't on properly so that was re-done. In the end we couldn't find what sensor was causing it. Decided it could be the o2 sensor doing something weird. Unplugged it, worse. Then re-plugged in the car wouldn't even idle normally now, just totally flooding the engine. Got some brake cleaner and spraying everywhere for a leak, nothing. At this point everyone was stumped. All sensors it could have been were checked/replaced, I was about to give up hope when Josh realises one of the boost clamps (the one Norfy spotted) wasn't clamped down properly... Sorted that and it was straight back to life and working grand.

I did one session just hopping out to make sure the car was fine and driving by myself. Then afterwards I would only join queues when there were people I wanted to drive with. Although this may seem a bit cliquey and if I did this before I wouldn't have driven with people like Harry last year (Which were some of my favourite runs). It worked a lot better for me. I knew who was on track and I knew how far I could push... but I did get a bit paranoid I pushed Sam Burgess a bit far when I was trying to hit his rear bumper off the line in the middle queue haha.

Will cover my driving etc more in the post with photos and video (pretty much finished the edits)

Loaded the car up with the same way I unloaded and it sailed right on. Then the drive home was so luxury (Don't watch the low tow strap. I couldn't be arsed re-doing it). Almost wrote off a Merc after the 160 mile trip home as it was driving round a big roundabout and slammed the brakes on across two lanes because it missed its turn off. If I wasn't so paranoid about other car users and saw it happening a mile off I'd have hit the dickhead.

    IMG_2067 copy.

And that's the car parked up ready for the next event, whenever that is who knows.

    IMG_2114 copy.

    IMG_2115 copy.

    IMG_2119 copy.

    IMG_2120 copy.

My Nephew has also just turned two so I picked him up a playmat which is a racetrack and of course I had to get him a couple hot wheels 180's to go with it...

    IMG_2074 copy.

Got the full unedited Youtube video up, blasting the final 10gb of my phone data allowance.

I really need to change the Defi alarm setting for my water so it doesn't go off constantly at 95*

I can never get the driving balance right because this year I was trying to chase everyone, now I'm gutted that I didn't get many solo/big chucks in and felt like I wasn't really aggressive enough haha.

Some of the highlights from the video was finally getting to drive with Norfy although theres like 3 laps where on infield he understeers massively in a row and I almost hit him. Turns out he had a bent tie rod.
Finally getting over the mental block I was driving behind Andy Strang in his stupidly expensive 86 with "Fuck it he's in the madcunt queue I'm going to push him" to get as close to anyone as i've been on initiation, then him have a wobble trying not to hit Shand so i hit my brakes, spun then almost collected Lewis's stupidly expensive 86.
Trying to keep up with Norfy and Charlie by jumping the kerbs and instead of sticking with them ripping my exhaust off.
A real aggressive run with Harry where i do a boost pipe brexit on transition.
Driving with Danny Whyman close on the initial corner for him to catapult down the infield. Also a black flag for someone else that me and Danny both pull in for as it was out for ages.
Channelling my inner 86 driver trying to stomp the throttle cable out on a couple of my solo runs.

I didn't realise how much media coverage I got from this event. Fucking hell. Massive thanks to the togs who spent their day taking photos of shonky Nissans dicking about on a patch of tarmac in fife!
This is about half of the images I wanted to post. Will do the rest later this weekend. Theres also a couple togs yet to upload.
Thanks to Martin, Matt, Will, Josh, Goodtimes and Rich.

Yeah, the whole not driving it properly for a year and all the issues I had with it when I did had me pretty sick of it and wanting to switch up chassis but after getting out and driving it on track I've got the bug for it again. Car drove spot on and did everything I asked it to (Once my boost leak was sorted), made me realise I've spent so much time getting it dialled in it would be a shame to sell up or break it.

Too right it would be a shame. Glad you've got the love back!
Get some of your joins welded on the boost pipes so there's less places to leak from. Then spend the money on genuine stainless jubilee clips and forget about them.
Have you a boost leak tester?

Yeah mate that kinda reminds me I forgot to cover what I've planned next now I'm keeping it...
I have got a proper mid-mount intercooler of Dan, with 90 degree elbows welded on so I can get rid of two parts that have always caused me grief on my IC setup. I've had two alu 90's to weld on for ages but just never had anyone to do the deed for me. So I'll be planning to fit that intercooler, but at the same time I've also done yet another U turn on what I want to do engine-wise.

Even though I fixed the hole in the intercooler and the car was boosting better the car still felt slow compared to others and I kept having people pull on me massively either on the straight or in the cut through (clips with Danny is a prime example) so it made it a bit hard for me to keep pinned with people. So with this in mind the TD05h I sold a few weeks before STL4 has been bought back. I've found the rear housing part number I need to make it fit with the manifold also so I will be going back to the plans of a mid-mount TD05h setup. Which also means I'll need to re-do all my hot-side IC piping. Plan is to make it all one piece metal with minimal silicone joiners and proper clips.
Now I'm on the hunt for 740 nismo's and a Z32. I'll then be able to finish the build I started and risk getting it mapped somewhere in Scotland. Problem I had before was I was adamant if I were getting it mapped it was going to Martin Battye which the cost of getting the car from the highlands to him put me off massively.

Once the turbo setup is done and its been mapped I'm also going to take the car somewhere for a proper alignment, it still haven't been touched since it went through the tyres at crail. I've used toe plates but its not been fully done since. Then to help with my grip situation once i've got more power I'm going to dip from budgets and try out Zestino's now that my mate Axel at AAOil is distributing them in the UK. I've seen a driver in japan's car get transformed by the tyres and Axel rates them highly so I'm very keen to give them a shot, especially if i'm needing more grip once I get the Greddy fitted.

If I find time for a week back home or so I'll probably buy 3l of red paint and give it a once over too.

So I've read through Daze's build thread for info on his TD06 downpipe and the reality was I ended up with more shit to add to my list of things to source for the TD05 build. Is ebay fire sheath shite or does it all do the same job? Going to put some on my oil inlet, drain and also the oil separator piping as I've been so paranoid since going through a hose at the rocker before.

On the other hand I've managed to bypass the requirement for a Greddy outlet flange by planning to weld a 2.5" vband straight to the housing. I am however needing a flange made up for my Greddy Type C. Anyone have the hook up for one off laser cuts?

...and heres the dump from what else has come out from the event so far. (That I totally didn't forget i only did half of.)

This is getting neglected pretty much... just sitting on the drive whilst I’m collecting TD05 stuff which is all sorted now. Just waiting on the manifold and exhaust housing to be welded up.

Only other thing I’ve got is a new seat for my extremely rare passengers.

Did a mock fit and will fit in nicely but a bit tight to the cage of which I really need to paint the door bars...

And yeah it’s still gonna just sit on my drive til I have time to fit the TD05h and get it mapped. Will be driving at the Schassis weekender so have to get it all sorted by then.
