Yeah Kim Jong ill really was ill.

Everyone in japan shitting, coz his son needs to do something strong (warlike) to convince those old millitary nutters in the north that he is leader.

Hopng he doesnt decide to throw some rockets our way.

If the US and SK take the chance to invade the North while Jong-Un is young and stupid then yeah, it could well start WW3. With China being NK's closest Ally, and Russia being pretty close to China (in the way they both dont like the US intervention on the middle east) - However, that would souly depend on the US being the type the go and invade countries, kill the people and take the prizes its not something they are likely to do for 9+ years..

    oh wait.

One thing that was weird I thought, Muammar Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein and Kim Jong-il, All died this year.. all known as 'the worlds worst dictators' (according to UN etc) all died at the ages of 69. CO-INKY-DINK!

China are not massive allies of NK. They about as close as you'd get, but even they couldn't give a fuck about that place, worthless to them, no economic/trade value, and little if any military help.
Only reason they helped em in the Korean war was it was the Communism vs Imperialism type shit and them existing kept a country between the west and China, nowadays they won't care much if Korea was 1 country.

Saying it will cause WW3 is properly gay considering it was the USA/UK/Canada/Aussie/S.Korea etc etc vs China/Russia/N.Korea in the Korean war, and they fucking all hated each other then, it was the Cold War, and even THEN it didn't cause WW3.

Now, with no cold war, nobody giving a monkeys about N.Korea, and everyone able to profit from the country not being shit anymore, if anything kicks of, they'll just pretty much let it.

Saddam Hussein didn't die this year, and depending on which source you believe, Kim Jong-il was either 69 or 70. So maybe not that much of a coincidence really.

I think that Russia/China alliance looks good only in movies. Something like Russia + ex-soviet republics, but no one will give a fuck about few dudes with shovels!

If you are serious about WW3, then you're overreacting.

On a mildly related note, I read this earlier (damn Wikipedia and its links wasting half my day reading about stuff I'd never heard of...).

In 1976, while trying to trim the branches of a tree in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea that blocked the line of sight of a UN observation post, two American soldiers were killed with their own axes by North Korean soldiers who didn't like em doing that.

The response to this (as the tree was still in the way) is fucking classic IMO...

America and South Korea went back to the tree with 813 people!
They had a load of chainsaws and axes to chop the tree down.
Everyone was warmed to the teeth.
They had a 165mm cannon pointing at the bridge to blow it up if anyone from North Korea tried to cross.
They had 64 South Korean martial arts special forces (ninjas!) who each had a club, a machine gun, a grenade launcher, and a fucking claymore mine strapped to their chests with the trigger in their hands  :worthy: and were shouting at the North Koreans and daring them to cross.
They had 27 helicopters (inc Cobras) hovering behind them.
Behind the helicopters B52 bombers, F4 Phantoms, and South Korean F5s circled overhead.
They moved an aircraft carrier near the shore where it was clearly visible.
Loads of artilliary and armour sat just back from the DMZ.
And they ordered 18,000 more troops to come over from Japan just in case it kicked off.

Unsurprisingly, the North Koreans just let them cut the tree down this time :worthy:

In 1994, Pyongyang media reported that Kim Jong-il shot an amazing 11 holes-in-one to achieve an unprecedented 38-under-par game on a regulation 18-hole golf course - on his first try at golf.

Reports say each of his 17 bodyguards verified the record-breaking feat.
