Lampaz -Drift 200sx Hello! I would like to share my project with you on Driftworks. I´m from Finland and building an Nissan 200sx that are intent to be used in drifting. The car came from Sweden in 2006 when a friend of mine buy his car there. The car was not complete and was just meant to take spareparts from. Well, last year I decided that I want to build a driftcar. I start to search after a suitable object work on. And when I saw this car on a backyard i completely fell in love! No, not really....but it was cheap!!!! Here are some pictures of the car at the backyard: It´s just a body without engine and gearbox. But one great thing is that there are wheelhubs from an silvia s14 so I can use 5 bolts wheels. Here ar some specs: Car: -Nissan 200sx 89-94 -Vertex bodykit. -Silvia s14 wide rear fenders. -Brock B1 17" wheels, modified bolt pattern. -Modified frontfenders from 180 sx and silvia s13. -Custom made transmission tunnel. -Custom made rollcage. -Sabelt seats. -Sabelt 4 point seatbelts. -Momo drifting steeringwheel. -Custom made dashboard. Engine: -Bmw 535 engine, 3.5 litre straight six cyl. -Compression ratio reduced -12.9 Cylinder head bolts -Custom made intake. -Siemens deka 630cc fuel injectors. -Custom made exhaust manifold. -K27 turbocharger. -HKS wastegate. -HKS dumpvalve. -600x300x76 Intercooler -Watercooler from Toyota Aristo. -406 mm big electrical fan. - 25 lines oilcooler. -Megasquirt V2.2 ECU. -Walbro 255 litre fuelpump. Drivetrain: -Bmw 535 gearbox, Getrag 260 5 speed. -Sachs 765 clutchplate with 4 pucks sinter. -Custom made gearshaft. -custom driveshaft. -silvia welded diff, gear ratio 4.375. -Silvia s14 brakes -Silvia s14 wheelhubs. -Adjustable toearms, custom made. -D2 coilovers. -Custom hydraulic E-brake. "The car is in fact almost finished but i will show you people here at Driftworks the story about how my car go from being a car ready fro the junkyard to be a cool driftcar! Someone posted here a link to a thread I have on a swedish forum, but the swedish isn´t so easy to understand and the google translater is shit so I write it from the beginning here instead. (I have actually asked him to take the links away because I will update for you here in a short time the whole story!)" So to everybody: please, don´t post any more links to my thread on the swedish forum, I will update to you here instead! Thanks!" Okay, here are som pictures. The building of the rollcage: That was the rollcage, made of 45mm pipes to the head arc and 38mm to the rest of the cage. Okay, we continue with the building of the ECU. I buyed the Megasquirt ECU like a kit from TS Mekan. I solder it together myself and leave it to TS Mekan for testing. Everything work as is should! TS Mekan is going to do the ECU mapping also later on.
Well, lets go to the enginebuild. The engine was not looking so good inside so the repartion was well worth it. I also made the combustion chambers larger so the compression ratio was going to be better for the turbo setup. It´s coming more pictures later when I build i together again.
sweet! i like the way your made the ecu up yourself dude cool i also like the left field aproach with the engine, m30b35 wtf! i shall most defenatly be keeping an eye on this one
Thanks! The ECU was quite simple to assembly, just followed the assembly guide on megamanual.com. Yeah, it´s a little bit odd engine choise!
I am always in awe of people who do all this themselves, especially when its not down the usual routes and something different. I wish you the very best luck with it and my next comment may sound overly harsh, but its for your own safety. Rip that rollcage out and get someone to do it who knows what they are doing. Oh and if Im being negative, its a 200sx not a 180sx and a straight6 isnt a bigblock !!! All the best fella, J.
Now to the tricky part to get the engine to fit into the car. It was not easy because I had two criterias. Not to modify the frontaxle and no big modify to the engine. And this is how it goes then...... OOpss, maybe I will be the first who fill oil trough the dashboard!!!
Sorry, if you don´t like the rollcage. What do you think is wrong with it? I´m not afraid of criticism, but please explain more what´s wrong with it and how I can do it better? Oh, so it´s been called 200sx also in UK. I tought that they are called 180sx there(as in Japan), so thats why I called it like that......will change it right now. /niklas
Wow, looks like this is goin to be savage! Im not sure if that will work well in a drift car with the engin so far back... Why have you done this?
Its the welding fella, Its not particularly great, and if theres one place you want good welding its in the thing you rely on to save your life !! Could do with a better design too, but its the welding that particularly caught my eye. J.
Is that exhaust manifold made out of similar gauge tube as the rollcage? This isn't going to be a light car is it.. heavy engine, thick gauge steel panel work inside, miles of welding and a mental looking manifold.
Look on the bright side, If he makes his own intercooler and rad it might just balance it all back up again !!!
this looks fucking insane! i'm loving the crazy ideas!!! why is the engine so far back, weight distribution?
Nope, He said in post #6 that his 2 main criteria were to not have to modify the front axle or the engine, hence this dictates where the engine - and more amuzingly where the opil filler cap - now resides. Normally you would be interested in weight balance, CoG, and peripherals as priorities and then look to modify to reach a compromise !! j.
Hats off to you for being so ambitious and different. Looks like it will need a truckload of bracing for the turbo.
