So I'm looking to find the cheapest running car possible. Max I'm willing to pay is $900, but I'd rather find something in the 400-600 range (cause college). I already have a daily driver and a trailer, so really I don't care if it's street legal. I'm a beginner, so I don't really know the specifics of what to look for. I'm preferential to turbo hatchbacks, but I doubt I'll find anything in my budget. I'm not looking to go pro or anything, just something to have fun with on a track/field/parking lot.

I am thinking about a '95 Kia Sportage (KBB link), but I'm not sure if it's good to learn with. Any ideas folks?

Again, wrong country so no idea what they go for/insurance ect but if you're on a budget and you want some fun I guess you can't go wrong with an MX5 wherever you are in the world (miata for you yanks). You can spend a bit on lifting it for offroad if you're into that, or you can just enjoy it as it is on a track if low speed isn't a problem. Fuck knows why you'd want a Kia, but I'd choose a Mazda over the dog eaters any day.

Insurance is only required if its registered, so I don't need to worry about that ;) Checked out the mx5 earlier and it usually goes between 1700 and 2500 over here in the states, unfortunately. Probably can find one with a bad title for less, but eh. I kinda like the Kia just for the price (roughly $600 or £450 if google is to be believed).

    Kia sportage. Fuck me.

Yeah bro, the Kia Sportage is a vastly underrated drift weapon. Just pull the ABS fuse, weld the front and rear diffs up and let us know how it goes.

I dunno man, its fucking cheap. For the price I wouldn't really have to care if I flipped it or hit something.

Why not give it a turbo and a straight pipe too, just for the added "fuck it" factor? XD

To be fair 4WD was a option on the 90's model Sportage, the base spec was RWD.

Won't drift for shit though obviously.

So ideally, you'd want 4WD over RWD? I always thought it was the other way around.
