I had a quick look but never saw these^^^^ I'll have to look closer as these are the type of things that interest me (not really a buy and fit type bloke)
    cheers

awesome, just read all through this, so much more interesting to read and see parts being made rather than just bolted on:)

One little tip though, you might have to cut down the bracing on the rear arms at the hub end once its at its final ride height:thumbs:

Cheers Matt, I'll bare that tip in mind when it's lowering time.... should be quite an easy mod to remove a little bracing if it's needed.

Only down side to making your own parts is it's so damn time consuming :( I want it finnished and wanna be out there learning to drift

Been busy beefing the brackets on the rear subframe.

I was going to stiffened them all up but I thought these would take the most punishment.

    WARNING... PIC HEAVY (sorry)

    Before and After shots:

Also added a little more strength to the lower arms (maybe a bit OTT)

Subframe is now ready to install once the snows gone (soon I hope)

    obviously keeping costs down,

and if its going to be a road car, its nice to have some comfort rather than everything solid mounted and rose jointed, so many people on here start modding their road cars on here from advice from people like you to the extent their cars are too much for everyday road use,

then they either buy a crappy daily and loose their everyday fun or sell up

i think if your gonna post on someones build thread, negative comments dont help.

if you cant post anything nice dont post anything atall? i know everyone is entitled to their opinions but sometimes negative feedback doenst help morale?!

deffo, this is a lowcost project.
some mods or extra work can get the car better, but still, the SX is the best STOCK car to have fun in drifting. capable, so bear them, no need extra changes on a road car.

I Know what your saying bud and if I had the funds for:

Knuckles + offset rack spacers £790
    4 arm link kit £400
    Adjustable front lower arms £235
    Adjustable rear lower arms £225
    Total £1560

    Thats the way I'd go.

Although I would still beef up the subframe as above.

You could of course sponsor the build with parts or funds and I'd be pleased to do it "the right way"
In the mean time I'll just :smash::smash::smash: away (it really is all down to cost)

Thanks for the input though

not blowing my own trumpet here but my car is a budget one too, and its rb25 s13 and all it has is polybushes and coilovers (never been setup for camber etc)

whereas my m8 has an rb20 s13 with antiroll bars, adjustable arms coilovers etc, all the toys no expense spared, and he always asks me why mine feels more confortable to drive? and hes spent time and money swapping bits over to improve his ride comfort.

he always asks if he can drive mine instead of his, so chin up, keep welding and keep inspiring us other budget builders!

Fair call man. I just figured with the extent of mods this was a track only car. For what its worth, your doing a good job at making all the old parts look new and keeping to ur goals, good job

Are cages and hydro handbrakes street legal in the UK?

You're a man after my own heart Eddie. I'm not a buy and fit sort of guy either. If it can be made then I can make it too  Anyone can buy all the bits and fix it together - it takes someone special to fabricate most of it himself.

    Keep up the good work.

Cheers for all the positive comments guys, I'm sure someone will highlight if a do something drastically wrong (and hopefully steer me in the right direction)

Your not totally wrong as it is primarily a track car (but low budget). Hopefully in the future all parts will be upgraded part by part.
I'm making it road legal so I can test the engine, handling, and run in the clutch on the street before ripping the arse out of it on track.

Cages are legal here but insurance companies dont like them (obviously if your not wearing a helmet a cage isn't the best thing to have near your head in an accident)
