I'm trying to decide whether to get a torsen diff or a Kaaz 1.5 way for my Mx5 (2001 mk2.5 1.8) , had a torsen on one of my old mx5's and thought it was great and its obviously a cheaper option than the Kaaz but it is a used option, do torsens wear out as they get older ? if I go for the Kaaz do I need to upgrade anything else or just simply pop the diff in an away I go ? cheers
I have a Mk2.5 Sport and drifted on the stock Torsen for over a year. They can loosen up and start to be less reliable for drifting. I then fitted a 5 speed welded diff. The ratio change made the car more revvy. Fitting a 6 speed (mk2.5) diff will extend your gearing if you car is a 5 speed? Not exactly what you want. If you're going Torsen go for a low mileage 1.8s diff from a 1999/2000 Mk2 (5 speed). Alternative would be a brand new Ashford Transmissions LSD. I don't know anything about a Kaaz unfortunately. Ian
