yes you would need a lot of things for a 2.8 conversion, but youll still struggle to slide it well as the car your talking about drifting is quite heavy to begin with, so needs a lot more grunt to get it going... like a big dirty v8.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand there not cheap in manuals

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand why are all the photos youve uploaded parked up in the same spot at the same angle like it doesnt even move? just checking, you do own a license dont you?

So if i weld the diff up will it slide? I thought it was too heavy and not enough grunt to spin the wheels up, does it in the wet but not for very long

Yes it will just need bigger balls and more commitment to hold it out but its plenty powerful enough to hold a decent skid

Weld the diff and i assure you it will skid !!!! You need balls and a right foot!!! Open diffs in bmws are horseshit !! Get it welded stop thinking you dont have enough power weld the diff and do a pod day :) she will drift !

get some shit skinny tyres and pump them up to one milllliiiioon psi and it will be like skidding in the rain, you dont need loads of power just practice the basics then when you get the hang you can get a quicker car. I think your better learning is somthing slow because you learn to use the momentum of the car to carry you round corners. So you enter fast and come out slow coz your cars flat as a turd but when you get a better one you will enter fast and come out fast. :)

The 520s slid pretty well just turn off the asc and boot it, is a wee bit harder in the dry with an open diff but weld the diff up it will drift as is

Drift it. It wont kick out bucket loads of smoke, but would be fun as hell. Use the weight to your advantage.
