Hey Guys and Girls, Now i'm sure as some of you know I started a While back an FD project that didn't get very far. Now this was mainly due to lack of funding over the past months. I'v just gone self employed turning the Hobby into work and things are on the up. The car again is an FD3S RXt Still on stock twin turbos. A set of Hipermax II coilovers have been fitted, along with Hiper muffler and Mega folw induction kit. Now as i said this is a new car and by pure coincidence it has tha same veilside kit as the old .... i'm not sure why buy they seem to be cheaper!!!! The wheels a swaped over from the old car as they have more rubber left on the rims. Any way here is a pic of the car at the moment. {} Now as i'm awaiting the new chargespeed and URAS price lists the body work will be changed in the near future to something drift capible and hard wearing. Next things on the car will be to remove the 2ndry Upper intake manifold butterflies and replace a few sheered wheel studs!!! tomorrows job i say. Can anyone tell me when the next drift practice is. I'll be honest i 'ant a clue how its done.... properly!
no worries about that dude. i used to be a marshall on the track there, no problems with the army what so ever. occasionally some one got shot in the head, but thats alright
Yeah looking at what needs doing to the car doesn't look like she'll be on the road for a couple of weeks!!!! Lots of Chassis work to do
Well after a quick check over the car there appears to be few other issues too.... First the power plan frame.... {} {} yes thats the bit that holds the diff and gearbox in place.... and yes thats a massive split An the wheels studs have sheered... well 3 of them {} {} Started on the interior yesterday got most of the bulk out..... {} {} You gotta love the steering wheel {}
Right with the new wheel studs in, new power plane frame on and new brakes/pads on its time to get the upper inlet manifold off remove the unwanted 2nd set of butterflies. This will hopefully aid throttle responce with improved air flow pics to follow
right i got round removing the 2ndry butterflies in the upper inlet manifold today This is the engine all to gether. {} After removing the elbow and upper intercooler pipe {} the throttle body {} {} {} Needed to get the upper manifold off to get at the butterfly mechanism..... not hard just a little long winded!!! {} This pic is just for referance for when it all goes back together so i know where the vaccum pipes go back on. {} The rats nest under it all..... what a mess!!!! {} The Upper Inlet Manifold and the 2ndry butterflies. {} {} had to slide out the plates before you can remove the rod that goes through the inlet manifold itself.... the screw where real bitches to get out muchous clam needed!!! {} {} That gives you this. {} there is a hole left on the side of the UIM this needs to be plugged up. I used chemical metal which seemed to work a treat {} Thats about it for removong them..... now just have to remember where all the nuts and bolts that you took off go!!! Also just to add deffiantly worth doing it really does make a difference.
dude, what the hell happened to the PPF?! Was it missing any nuts or studs? THey normally only crack if smthings missing! And the chassis brace doesnt look all the smart either?
PPF? sorry am i being stupid? The brace bar is just loosened so when i lent on it it just twisted a little.
Righty people i decided that whilst ironing out the current niggles on the car i may aswell order myself a URAS GT kit. I have doen a few of these for customers now (not RX7's this) and i felt left out Here are a couple of pics: {} {} Due to shipping dates it won't be here until mid may but well worth the wait i feel Also have just had my HKS Hipermax II's re-conditioned and i have a decat mid pipe and down pipe on the way.
Been doing a wee bit more today gave the metal work inside the car a freshen up... Will pop some pics up later.
