Car has been running fine, serviced it last night and disconnected the battery for 30mins while doing some work.
Went to drive to a drift day this morning..... NO power steering. Gutted.

    My speedo is working fine.
My hicas has been removed for some time now but the steering's always been fine.
    Steering has always been fine......
Then all of a sudden today i have NO power steering.
Happened when i turned on the car this morning (and to make it worse i am meant to be at a track day!!!)!

Thought it might have been the pump BUT.... it was working fine last night and NO whines.
Changed the rack solenoid for another R33 one.... no difference.
Connect 12v's directly to the rack solenoid, its only fractionally assisted (which means the pump is pumping) but its still so bad it might aswell have no P/S
    Changed the fluid,

Because i have put a constant 12V's to the solenoid to fully open it (completely bypassing the hicas / speed sensitive steering etc etc..... my P/S is no longer controlled or governed by HICAS OR SSS.
My steering should be FULLY independent.

I can now only put it down to the pump or the rack....
But the pump is pumping and is dead quiet and the rack does not leak.....
SO i cant see how there's anything wrong with either one.

    I'm stumped....... ANY IDEAS???

No speedo chip, checked all the fuses.

I also put in an S14 rack today.... problem is still there.

Im pretty sure my power steering is now 100% mechanical so no electrical bits can any longer influence it (please corect me if im wrong).

Next stop.... change the pump (unless someone has an idea of something else that could cause this).

It's probably not it mate, but have you checked the HICAS wiring that goes from the boot to ECU in the bracket under the parcel shelf?

I once unplugged it when I removed the HICAS & lost almost all steering, but plugged it back in & hey presto
