suppose you have to weigh up the hassle vs money and time... really like this build too... think you will keep the same look/style
haha probably nothing worth chopping off as its rustly in lots of places hahaha Im no welder and dont have anywhere to do this so for me it would mean paying somebody, but this would require ALOT of proper work, there are many layers of rust and some are right underneath the body so it would require picking alot of the actual shell apart which would many £££££ Indeed that man... Ye few subtle differences but overall should look pretty similar!
New shell has been found(in the yard outside the unit where the rusty shell is - how perfect!) {} {} {} {} {} {} Its 10x cleaner than the old one, theres a spot(an actual small hole) of rust in the floor but nothing major {} and should be sorted pretty quick, and also the chassis rails have been bent/squished in the middle which looks like a fork lift truck has tried to pick it up and hit the chassis rails rather than go underneath them... {} The only downside so far is that the rear arches have been cut for overfenders, so looks like i'll be going down the rear overfender route! Nothing crazy, still keep it nice and subtle. Chris has immediately got on with the task of replacing the bent chassis rails, the shell is up on its side and hes chopped out the bent rails and is in the process of replacing them with fresh straight solid rails. {} {} {} The windscreen has also come out ready for the rollcage to be done which makes things easier for Chris - Im hoping that in a few weeks I can go up one day and spend the day swapping all the bits over from the old shell to this new one - fingers cross progress will be made and It'll actually be done before Driftcup - March 11th... 45 days encounting...
Your telling me hah! Ye man, Chris is making good progress on it now so hopefully wont be long! Scrappers I think, unless your interested/needs bits? Ye got mega lucky with Chris having this one outside his unit haha Just lucky really haha
Just a little!! Hopefully quick progress now its up with Chris so won't be too long - we gonna boogy @ STL again?
Been a while since I updated this... Unfortunately I didn't manage to get Driftcup tickets, so for the foreseeable future I am just doing loads of practice days to get used to the car and get as much seat time as possible... Lucky in a way as the car is nowhere near done! Engine is sat waiting to be dropped in.... {} And here's pictures of the Rollcage so far: {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} {} Also got a new daily/tow car and a trailer so that I can trailer the S13 to events rather than drive it and worry about getting home/restricting how hard I push {} Hopefully not much longer until the S13 is back so I can get rebuilding it
Looking good mate I’m in the same boat as you in regards to drift cup tickets and my 180sx being no way near fished lol
Latest update.... Rollcage is fully finished now and the interior/engine bay has been painted - Audi Nimbus Grey {} {} {} {} {} {} {} Chris has also dropped the engine and gearbox in for me {} {} This is the last picture Chris has sent me before I'll see them again tomorrow, {} The old shell is no use to me, I want a few bits and bobs off it and then if anybody wants it cheap they are welcome to come and take it... Roll on building this back up and doing lots of drifting this year!
I really like the cage design around the sunroof latch. This build Is going to progress quickly mow it's rebuild time. Keep it up.
I really hope it will but I don't think it will as I don't have much left after paying for all this and forking out for a new shell etc so maybe a few months of slow progress whilst I slowly gather the remaining bits
Dude its looking amazing so quickly! I'm really impressed with the progress so far and that cage looks so good.
