Having some probs with my S14, drove it back from Bristol last night it the pissing rain last night all seemed well.

Went to get in it tonight to move it turned the ignition on as normal next click to start and everything died. Tried to re-start a couple of times and it intermittently either was dead of I got some random dash lights etc........

Checking the fuses I noticed that the area was damp/wet so I can only assume I have got th electrics wet.

Is there any advice apart from drying it out? Hair dryer / heat gun etc........ Need this running for JDM this weekend. :-(

Id check the inner wing loom, 9 times out of ten an elec prob on these is the loom. Strip it all back and inspect every single wire:thumbs:

Also, the main body fuses, 75amp IIRC some times don look blow but are or get corroded and cause resistance in the circuit.

    Tried it won'trun :-(

The 75 amp fuse looked part blown (still partially in tact), changed it thinking gproblem solved!

Took wheel off checked the wiring checked every fuse and swapped every relay to no joy.

I have found if you leave the car and for a while and go back you get the ignigiton coming on as it should, now the last time it did it I tested everything electrical (anything inside the car with a switch) and had no probs. Heard the fuel pump as I always do everything. Clicked the key once more and it all died, then can't even get ignition lights unless you leave it for a bit then the cycle happens again. Its almost like it re-sets itself?

Another thought is possibly the immobiliser playing up? As my key fob buttons died a long time ago I have always used the key to get in and out. Not sure if there could be something in that?

Anywats its getting closer to Wembley and the car is still dead! grrrrr

Hi mate, I had exactly the same problem. I read you had changed all the relays but have you changed the 2 next to the ecu, also check the wiring into the ecu as mine had collected a lot of water, regards Ade

give the fuse box a blast of wd40 or similar, do one area at a time to see if it makes a difference, fusebox, loom, etc

I checked the wires but nut the Relays, it wasn't too wet around there it was more by the fuse box in the driver footwell. Will check anyway though.

I did use some WD40, didn't go crazy with it though just a few squirts to try and get rid of the moisture.

Like he said try earthing the starter with an earthing kit or even a jump lead, had this problem a while back and that sorted it :)

I'd say check your earth too, bit of emery paper on the battery terminals and check and refit your main earth from the battery too.
