possibly buyin a 1972 mk1 escort. altho its been stored for the last 25 years. the current owner has had it for a year now, but has not registered it in his name. he has an old style v5 for it in the previous owners name.
can any1 see any problems that could arise from this. eg if it hasnt been declared sorn, can i become liable etc.
and can i obtain a registration doc from the old style v5, or can i just apply for a new one.
any advice appriceated, been looking for an escort to build up to grp4 spec for ages, and just dont wanna end up with problems with registration etc.
    thanks

You'll have no problems, Just send it off and they will send you a new one!

If its not in your name, how can you become liable? you haven't not sorned it??

Get the v5 and sorn it, then whats the problem??

cool cool. mk1 group 4 escort here we come lol. as long as i can strike a deal with the owner. its been dry stored for 25 years, so aint a bad example. just what i been looking for. one that hasnt been touched, as so far all the ones i have seen have been patched up by mr pigeon lol and so more work than just starting with one with rust holes in it lol.
after working for gartrac for 6 years, i just have to build an escort. would be a crime not to. and with the prices going up and up, hopefully will turn out to be a good investment.

Old cars reg'd off the road from pre-sorn era are exempt from sorn until retaxing, so no probs, you WILL be asked to take it for an ID check standard practice now for almost all old cars.
