View attachment 198259 Hi guys, I am far from a forum expert and my grammar and spelling is atrocious (I used spell check for that)

Build thread for my 1uz powered skyline r33

I would start off with a spec but it is getting a complete overhaul

Basically it's a skyline with a 1uz v8 (early engine) BMW box and a lot of modifications to come!
    Being built purely for drift

Will be updating this when I get a spare half hour any advice tips etc more than welcome

One of the main reasons I bought this was for the engine it was running always loves skylines and always loved v8's best of both worlds here then right?

Main reason for wanting to go v8 is simple reliability and who doesn't love the sound of a v8?
Plans for the engine eventually be turbo but for now I'm going to stick with lower power and focus on getting the car how I want it and build a good handling car rest for the power and also gives me a chance to get used to the car without hiding behind massive horsepower but if anyone has any tuning tips or good mods for more na power feel free to let me know!?

So finally got the skyline home now what's the most fun part about buying a car?
Ripping it to bits to see how much of a money pit you have bought

    IMG_5710.JPG IMG_5711.JPG

Wasted no time and ripped out the interior I bought the car knowing it needed a few bits of welding the sills are shot but all in all it's pretty clean and only found one hole in the drivers footwell!

If anyone needs interior parts give me a shout I have a whole load of parts people can take

    IMG_5708.JPG

    Rotten or foot ventilation?

    IMG_5626.JPG

So yeh forgot to take a before picture of the boot floor (it wasn't pretty)

Seemed to have been used as a jacking point and with the car being built for track use I have no need for a spare wheel so raised/flat boot floor it is!

Also my idea with the exhaust system will require the floor to be raised anyway and it just makes working on the rear end a whole lot easier so it is win win!

    IMG_5627.JPG

    IMG_5680.JPG

The old man loving life starting work on the boot floor/rear end who would think you could fit a man of this size into a skyline boot!

Me on the other hand I had the fun job of removing the sound deadning from the inside i wouldn't wish this job on my worst enemy and if someone has a better way than a heat gun and a scraper then please tell me your secrets!!!

    IMG_5679.JPG

    This stuff feels never ending

That's about it for now, will update when the boot floor is more finished and the sound deadening is all gone!

    IMG_5630.JPG

A little bit more done today!

I now have a boot floor, sound deadening is pretty much none existent throughout the car,

Rear bumper trimmed to sit flush with the back end

Dash is removed (what a joke of a job)

Started prep for the next job of replacing the sills!

Boot floor ain't finished properly still requires tidy up etc but you get the jist of it

Few photos of the progress will be put on when I get chance!

    Dash removed
    IMG_5785.JPG
Finally getting somewhere with the sound deadening god damn I hate this stuff!
    IMG_5803.JPG
Finally have a boot floor still requires a little finishing but it's getting there!
    IMG_5791.JPG
Back end starting to take shape!
    IMG_5802.JPG

Do not been updating much recently,
Boot floor is now pretty much complete and stonechipped now it's time to tackle the rotten sills and reinforce mounting points for the cage then I think it is going to be time to paint! Not much to say really the welding isn't perfect but it works and this isn't a super budget build!

    IMG_5887.JPG

    A lot better now :)

    IMG_5890.JPG

Now time to attack the sills (they where really f**ked)

    IMG_6003.JPG
    Rusty old Datsun

If you read my post from the beginning the hole in the driver footwell is now fixed not the prettiest but hey it works!
    IMG_6010.JPG
Started to cut out the outer sill hopefully have the driverside finished next weekend car is finally taking shape can not wait to get it painted after the sills are finished and start rebuilding the back axle, going to be going all solid subframe and diff bushes and replacing all the other bushes

Well that's all for now will update again soon

So another couple of months past and the sills really was gone!
    Inner middle and outer!

Both sides are now welded up and reinforced, the rear suspension mounts have been rebuilt too as they had seen a lot better days!

    Inner sill driverside

    Driverside outer done IMG_8078.JPG

    Mount rebuilt driverside
    IMG_8079.JPG

Dropped her down and did a test fit of the new xxr wheels, a little unsure on them but I got them for a bargain brand new in the boxes
    IMG_7622.JPG

Dropped her down give her a quick dust off and back on the stands it was to do the passenger side
    IMG_7689.JPG

Inner arches got a quick red oxide and stone guard for a little added protection
    IMG_7575.JPG

    IMG_7585.JPG
    IMG_7582.JPG

Quick check with the new wheels for tyre size and everything seems good!
Still a little unsure on them :/

Looks good dude, definitely a big project underway!

I had a 1UZ in an S14 and it was great, the power low down was so handy. You will find yourself wanting more though thats for sure.

I did look up supercharging (its a V8 right!), and i believe with relative ease you can put an Eaton M90 on. This will be good for around 300-350bhp i think. Worth looking into if you want cheaper power than a turbo (and less power lol)

    Good luck!

Oh really? It seemed to drop off the grid as soon as i sold it because it wasnt really used for drifting or anything it seems. Plus it changed hands a couple times. It was a black S14 Navan
