    Good evening all.

Im in the process of having a top mount set up fitted to a skyline r33 gts t, the manifold used is a japspeed 3mm thick race spec job and the turbo is a t67. today we have came across a big problem which is the turbo will not bolt to the manifold as the flange on the manifold is leaning at an angle towards the engine and will not allow the turbo to fit as its seriously failing the cam cover. we even tried putting the standard rb turbo housing onto the manifold which is alot smaller than the t67 and even that will not fit.

Has anyone had this issue and does anyone have a way round it? any advice would be greatly appreciated

Could cut along the weld between the runner and flange so it hinges up and bend it into place then fill the gap with a piece of stainless and weld it or if its not that big just weld it up

the only 2 ways i can think of is either to cut the t3 flange off and alter the collector so the flange can be re welded back on but at a different angle, or option 2 which is to cut and shut the rocker cover however either one of those options is a pain in the arse and shouldnt really have to be done at all.

am i right in thinking that this is just an absolute shit manifold thats been designed very badly? or is this a common issue

Its a Japspeed manifold. Say no more.

Got see Andy at APW and get a custom jobby made that will fit perfect

Take photos of it with the standard turbo fitted and fouling the rocker cover and send it to them and see what they say

If you want to persist with a cheap manifold then you're going to have accept that almost all will require modification, be it either additional bracing, welding cracks, shaping holes to fit studs or resurfacing flanges. Positioning issues are a new one to me though

i have a number of pictures that i sent to them and they failed to get in contact with me, i had to chase them up numerous times and then they tried to say that this isnt a fault with my manifold in particular its how they all are and that they sell alot of them and this is the first complaint they have received regarding the fitting in which i replied telling them that the standard rb25 turbo housing wouldnt even fit either. I also also phoned them about 3 weeks ago to find out what turbo and wastegate the manifold was designed to fit and the bloke on the end of the phone had no idea or even any of japspeed staff for that matter.

My car is currently sat on the mechanics ramps in mid air awaiting a manifold that fits, i tried to negotiate with japspeed saying that i would have the manifold altered sothat it actually fits if they were willing to pay the bill rather than them messing around arranging collection and refunding me however they wasnt interested. so far a complete waste of time and money as the mechanic is now putting the car back together until a 6boost item arrives and iv had to cancel the downpipe fabrication process untill further notice.

COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND WILL NOT BE USING JAPSPEED EVER AGAIN AS THEY SELL NOTHING BUT SHIT THAT ISNT FIT FOR THE PURPOSE

It's pretty common on RB25 manifolds to need to grind the cam covers slightly for BIG compressor housings no matter what manifold you have, but just for even a stock RB25 turbine housing is mental!?

This was way more than just a grinder on the cam housing to get this to fit, we took the cam cover off and there wasnt very much clearance between the turbo and camshaft itself, Then there was another issue of somehow managing to get an oil return feed past the manifold as there was practically nowhere for it to go

i didnt think there would be an issue with this turbo fitting as i stumbled across pictures online of japspeed showing this manifold with a holset hx40 fitted to an rb25 and im pretty sure a hx40 is alot bigger than the turbo im using
