Not sure if any of you lads are interested, The Reds have lost an aircraft (possibly Red 4)

BBC News - Red Arrow crashes during Bournemouth Air Festival

Getting sporadic reports that this may have been a fatality :( which is looking more and more likely, MOD havent released anything yet.

Multiple reports of a pilot having been found in the river, looks like he may have banged out but again multiple eye witnesses say they didnt see a parachute :(

^ seems to confirm the pilot banged out but very low :(

My thoughts go to the pilot and that he/she is found safe and alive.

They'll be using hawks until they disband mate - They wont be getting eurofighters  and I doubt they'll get F35s :(

Still looking for further info. Bournemouth airport has reopened, not sure if this means its not a fatality or not :(

I spent over 6 years on the Reds, have a lot of good friends there, bad times.
The seats are 0/0 capable which means if the pilot bangs out on the ground he wil still survive, so if he has ejected and the angle was OK he will be alright.
But the MOD not releasing details is never a good sign, certainly the vid footage looks pretty bad :(

I remember the pilot that crashed his bird at cranfield did a 0/0 bang - doesnt look like the chute deployed this time though :(

Might have taken a bird, but theyre tough engines. Will all come out in time

Pretty sure a birdstrike would have been fairly obvious :( IIRC the adour engine in the hawk is known to have issues with oil feed when under continued negative G manouvers. hence why the reds are banned from doing them?

    RIP to the chap

Nah mate, they cant do prolonged inverted flight (10 secs) due to oil starvation but they aint banned from negative G manouvers. The airframe is limited to -1.5g anyway

Anyone seen details of how he died? I mean was it a problem with the ejection or did he fly the plane into ground to stop it hitting the houses / other buildings?

Whatever happened, sad times  RIP and thoughts are with the family.

A guy I know from Shuttleworth airshows took this at RIAT last month... I bet none of them expected this to happen :/

I've heard from some people that live in Throop that he rode it down to the ground before ejecting and was found in a nearby river, what a hero.
