    S13 built not bought project

Okay guys so thought I may Aswel write a build thread up as it's my 1st build and maybe gain a few pointers and tips etc along the way from u guys. So here's where I've got to.

So I brought a uk s13 around 6 months back fitted with a sr20det black top and a few other mods

    Spec:
    Sr20det blacktop vvt
    Rocker stoppers
    Hks air filter
    T28r turbo
    Braided lines
    Apexi large radiator
    Twin fans
    Apexi intercooler
    Custom shotgun exhaust

    Chassis:
    Tein hsd coilovers nearly new
    R32 hubs, discs and calipers
    Driftwork rear camber arms
    Driftwork Tension rods
    Cusco hicas bar
    Cusco strut braces
    Fully polybushed
    Solid subframe mounts
    Welded diff

    Interior:
    Sparco harnesses
    Omp 330mm dished steering wheel
Swoosh gauges. Oil temp, oil pressure, boost and water temp
    Dildo gear nob
    Battery relocated
    Cut off switch

First thing is grab a new snout.. So pig nose it is.

Gave the engine a good scrub..

    Before
    [IMG]
    After
    [IMG]
Time to tidy things up abit by fitting some carpets in the front, Mainly because my misses wouldn't even put her bag down inside. Then brought a set of cobra imola 2 buckets. The car was originally white so all the inside of the boot was still white which looked real naff so gave it a lick of paint.

At the same time I had brought a dash dodge cage from a friend and powder coated it gold. [IMG][IMG]

Quite liked how the black and gold went so this is now going to be the 2 colours I want to stick with :)

Purchased a dw hydro with lines so got that in after a lot of messing about and fitting new lines to both rear calipers
    [IMG][IMG]

Okay so by this point I really wanted to change the look of my engine bay. Wouldn't normally say this but the white bits again was beginning to look tacky. I was in 2 minds to just leave it until I had major engine trouble so id have a good reason to remove it and spray the bay out.

A month or so went buy and a engine popped up from a friend who I thought would never break his car up. So After a deep long think I decided to sell the engine, turbo etc

And brought this forged sr20det straight cam non vvt. Some spec...

    Polished intake
    Eagle conrods
    Arp bolts
    Acl pistons
    Acl bearings
    Greddy valve stems
    Hks metal head gasket
    Crowed titanium retainer
    Megan racing lightweight pulleys
    Greddy flat baffled sump

Also brought a gt3071r turbo, waste gate, screamer with elbow.

    [IMG][IMG]

Time to strip the engine down to remove all the red flakey paint

So as the engine is out and I wanted to respray the whole bay anyway I thought I've got this far may Aswel have a bash at tubbing my arches. So had a good browse through a few builds and decided the route I wanted to go... [IMG]

    All chopped out ready.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Pritty impressed the way these went considering I haven't touched a welder for about 5 years. Next on the to do list is remove subframe and steering rack to move it forward 20mm. Get full use of the tubs ;) then to make up a bad ass removable crash bar

Drilled out and Removed a few rusty bits from a common place on top of the struts turrets. Ready to make up some new pieces and weld in place.

Another 2 hours of stripping paint off using nitro mors. Anyone know of a quicker way? at this point I'm thinking of spraying over the lot with grey/silver engine paint. [IMG]

horrible mess now, i believe there are 2 different types of Nitromors, B&Q and Trademans version.

I remember when i used to strip down my bike frames when i was a kid and it takes a full jar to do what it used to take a tablespoonful to do!

have you got a hot washer to try and blow it off while its softened?

Yeah many years ago I used to use good stuff where you could see it bubble And I'd be scared to even get it near my skin. But yeah I am using just the average B&Q stuff. Seems like these days all the goodness is taken out for health and safety.

I have a pressure washer but not a hot one.
