Hi can anyone tell me the eaiest n cheapest way for me to get more front steering lock and more camber on the front wheels, i've seen the DW geo hubs but dont have that kinda money to throw at what is basicly a toy, so it needs to be a cheap soultion I have a 200sx s13 UK spec one (1991) Pics of what you done would be helpful too Cheers
I'm running what I listed and I've got plenty of lock, don't really need any more. Also it's worth modding the s14 lca lockstops to allow more lock
On the front i got some uprated shocks n lowering springs thats it, on the rear same shocks n springs but got a fully set or adjustable bars/arms. Engine is ca with stage 2, So all i really need is some s14 bottom arms & top mounts?????? I read on another thread that some people are using r33 arms and steering rack on an s13, is that worth a look?
as per norfys post washer spacers and a slight notching of the lock stops will give you plenty. however before you even consider extra lock, get coilovers. you really really do need them, sell lowering springs/adjustble arms if needs be, and get a good set of coilovers extra lock and adjustable arms are nice, but absolutely non essential. where as coilovers are 100 percent essential!
are we talking about the rack spacers like in the DW shop... £107 is not cheap as chips You no where i can get em cheaper?
Coilover are fecking expensive though bud, unless u got a a set kicking about for me , i took the car to SVA to have suspension setup on the rear n buff said due to the lack of lock i'll spend the day going round in circles which is what i did so assume next step was lock etc etc Coilovers WILL come eventually though, i do hear what your saying i bought some gaz ones for the pug made the world of difference to my lap times
hate to sound like im badmouthing SVA but that is absolute bollocks and for people that knows enough about drifting should know that stock s13 lock is absolutely fine for drifting on. if your starting out drifitng, you do not need extra lock at all. this is the biggest problem we have at the moment, people go and do a skid day or two, spin a lot, and get told its due to lack of lock or needing adjustable arms etc. there are now so many drivers on here that believe you need fully adjustable suspension arms, geomasters etc to skid a car because theyve seen the pros do it. it just isnt the case. you just need more practice. it really is that simple. extra lock is helpfull sometimes yes, and im not going to say i wouldnt recommend it as mentioned a set of washer spacers will give you a fair bit more for cheap. but it is nowhere near as important as coilovers. most people who fit such things dont even need them anyway as they dont actually drift at angles even on stock lock, let alone extended. so id say if you do want to change it theres no harm, and if you want us to help let me know dude, but dont think you need to. and definetly try and get coilovers even if it means selling adjustable arms to fund them, theyre expensive yeah but you can get a bargain if you look, i sold a mint pair of HSDs recently for £400 oh and no no no, your looking at offset rack spacers, you dont need them, were talking about washer spacers sold in dworks shop, think there about a fiver. they go on the inside end of the steering arms (under the rubber boot that goes into the rack)
Yer more practice is definatly needed, I see them HSD's you put in here just didnt have £400 spare at the time, just been done for £1600 rates bill Ah i'm on the same page now (spacers), i dont need to buy them i could make them. I dont think it helps that i ran 888's on the front too i had so much grip on the front, too much i think. If you get anymore coilovers PM me n i'll have em assuming i aint got some by then.
cool man. you could make said washers, but there a pretty big size to find in most normal hardware shops and have to be the exact right size to fit, tbh id order them from dworks for the convienance!
Your right, they're like £3 off here n it will take a few hours to make them fit properly. i'll just buy em n put em to one side for now, n start the coily hunt...........wana buy some shocks n springs
