Hi guys, So I’ve been chasing this issue on my 13 for the past 2 years and for the life of me can’t figure out why it’s doing it. I have wheel hop whenever I break traction, the lower the wheel speed the worse it is, especially in the wet. So far I have replaced/upgraded Engine mounts (hardrace street) Gearbox mount (strongflex poly) Rear coilovers/dampers - tried on 3 different sets, no change Subframe bushings (strongflex poly) Shifter bushing All rear arms exc. lca’s (driftworks arms) & lastly a decent spec allignment on 0 toe all around. Any ideas or suggestions? I’ve searched the web to no end and nobody seems to have a solution that I haven’t already tried..
Just to get a bit of an idea, what size wheel & tyre are you running? And what setting do you have the dampers on?
Varies, using 225/45/17 on a 17x8 but also run 195/45/16 on a 16x8.5. Issue persists. Dampers are set to hard stiff
Cool. Couple more questions: Did it have any of those modifications done already when you started? Rear wheel bearings checked? Have you tried putting preload on the rear springs? Or if it has preload, removing it?
Nope, I’ve done everything. No play in the wheel bearings & I’ve tried adding preload, didn’t help. If it did, only marginally
I know it 's a long shot, but of the three sets of coilovers that you tried, were they all used? Or were any of them new? I only ask because i had wheel hop with old Teins and it went away when going to new BC's Have you unhooked the coilover bottom mount and jacked the wheels through full travel to see if there's any binding happening? I am scraping the bottom of the barrel with these suggestions obviously as 9 times out of 10 it's blown coilovers or subframe mounts
Two were were used, including my apexis. However the apexis were in good condition, they started to leak after about a year of use, and then completely blew. Have had a new set of cheap coilovers since, but even brand new it didn’t change this issue iirc. Even with different damping issues, but I’ll be moving to some decent new coilovers soon when I can afford it. I haven’t tried that method yet, but I’ll give that one a go. Subframe is nice and stiff, no flex in that or the bushes.
