is there just a good set of calipers i can get to bolt strate on the rear of the s14? in place of the dodgy stock ones. or do i have to piss about changing discs, hub carriers etc: going with the s13 braking system is my 2nd choice
IIRC skyline Brembo,s will go on.But you will have to convert the handbrake to the internal drum set up.
Yes, you need the discs as well. If you have an s13 you should be able to get you handbrake to work with the 300zx discs. r33 gts have the same disc and calipers too.
Rememebr the discs are 5 studs so you'll need to convert your car or get the disc redrilled. (redrilled it you self using the the old disc as a template. I have heard people use the standard s13 disc though. the standrad s13 disc is too thin so you cant wear the pads right down. You alos need diffrent lines availbe from apex perforamce or you can use the standard line and banjo bolt. The bolt just needs a small amount cut off and a few copper washers.
do it its amazing i thought my s13 set up was awsome with project mu shoes but this set up is bad ass its like a fricken button
I've been looking into rear brake upgrades. I thought about using a S12 disc redrilled to 5 stud with the original caliper spaced out to suit, as the S12 discs are 290mm as opposed to the 258mm on the S14.
Db power to a bigger kit to be used with the standard calipers Only problem with that being that you still have the gay standard calipers Decent pads and a caliper clean/rebuild will help a little bit tho
Yep i just fitted the discs and callipers, done away with a mechanical handbrake. Wont pass an MOT with no mechanical locking handbrake though. If you want the mech HB you'll need to fit the backing plate and shoes etc, then make up some cables (mod the s14 ones with a adaptor plate) (r33 gts cables)
im doing the same conversion but im just gonna fit 300zx calipers n discs for now and worry about mech h/brake later cos i need my hydro wand to work for now
Thats what i done ( bunjee cord makes a nice parking brake). BTW your need to hack the std backing plates up to make the discs fit. I hacked mine right down close to the hub, as the std plate has a raised part which rubs on the new disc.
Just get Z32 calipers, backplate and drum mech internals (or s13 drum internals), R33 handbrake cables, conversion hoses, Z32 pads and discs.
put them on today and yea had to modify the back plates for discs to go on.. Il sort out mech h/brake as and when i need one
Have the same problem with my s14 road car, I'm thinking try a groved rear discs with red stuff pads as I got this on workshop, if not work will try Project Mu rear pads, heard lots a good things about then but cant find where buy or price range Any one here use Project Mu pads on the past? Any good results?
