kyusha kai 240k gt skyline c210 i picked up this 1979 240k gt datsun skyline a few months ago with the intention of slapping a decent engine wheels and paint on it and using it as a cruiser. after rolling around in it as i bought it i realised it deserves better so into the garage it went. work has slowly been happening between working on mates cars and building a s14 skidder from half an s13 and my old crashed shell (but thats another story)... i knew the drivers rear arch was a bit suspect so started looking under the paint... ended up cutting out shit loads more than i expected. doh. i started letting in new metal but felt the need to do something more inspiring to get the motivation back up. i found a set of satisfactory rims and a set of gen 2 s13 apex coilies were aquired.
the front s13 topmounts fit straight into the stock skyline turrets just the opposite way to an s13, handy! i had some spare s13 hubs but they dont fit the lower arms on the liner so a bit of fab work needed to be done. i made up some temporary lower arms using s13 arms, extended 80mm with box section and 240k inners. i will make some better ones up eventually but these are plenty strong enough for now. i used 280zx tie rods and made a reinforced plate that boxes in the lower arm with captive nuts. old leg;
quite possibly the best car on the forum dude was it a jap import? I've never seen one before in the flesh over here?! subscribed
i removed the old steering assembly in preparation to fit a normal rack to the crossmember. it had a proper jank old steering box set up, has about 4 balljoints per side and they looked pretty tired. also took up lots of space in the bay. a real engine is on the cards so i will need to make as much space as possible.
man have you still not cleaned that place up yet? car is looking schweet i got the 3 small racking for sale if you like
cheers man, loving yours too, miss my old soooprah! its a uk car and rare as fuck! spare parts just dont exist for this car
next things to do; fit s13 arb to front end, will prob need new brackets making. buy drop links and make brackets on lower arms. steal engine crane and remove engine and box fit a s13 steering rack to cross member some how make a steering column to join up to new rack..... fun times
awesome dude... probably the most interesting project on here!! thats gonna be one sick car when its done and the rims are badass
Aww, shucks (blushes) thanks U.k car eh! where the fuck did you find that diamond? In some old biddies garage for the past 20 odd years no doubt Yeah, ma61 arches should look good on that, they seem to fit most things and a damn sight cheaper than those 240z ones. So, are you keeping it black or going down the jdm white route? (I likes the black myself) and final question... RB engine on the cards sir? (nice man shed too)
some fella retro rides actually, had been poked about by a few people in the past, some with skill others without going by the state of the rear arch. i want to keep it black as its the best colour and i want all my cars to be black, the problem is it shows every little blemish and after painting my s14 gloss black its kinda put me off. white is beginning to come out as favorite now... no rbs for this one, thinking massive filthy dirty toymota lump is required as i have a w58 sittin around doing nothin wink wink. found this photo of when the guy i bought it from got hold of it,
Yeh i agree, i was thinking of a 1j when i posted it, only because "toymota" was mentioned earlier. No RB's allowed.
Well, he said something about a w58 tranny, So I'm thinking it might a m series of engine, perhaps a 7mge, 7mgte, or 6mge. I could be wrong tho...
