made a bit more progress today. got the engine out and rear struts off and separated. need to modify the old top mounts to fit the new coilovers so i can bolt them on.
i fuckin hate you why arent there cars like this in germany nice projekt man..would love to do something like this ..but only got my s13
i have finished the rear top mounts and got them all bolted on. started looking at the arches but cant decide what to do with them yet... steering rack is the next job. gonna try and use a s13 or s14 one (cant remember where it came from) with track rod ends sourced from somewhere else to loose an inch off each side as the rack is too wide.... more on that when i figure it out...
Fucking fucking awesome! Love old school retro rides. This is gonna be just sick. This and Jason's cressida probably my favorite cars on here right now
If this works out as outrageously awesome as it looks like it will, definitely needs to get front paged so the whoooooole world can enjoy it. Good work!
i got a bit of work done on the steering. i cut the rack lugs off a s13 x-member and removed the datsun one. spent hours with wire wheel cleaning the crud off to bare metal. i then cut and shaped the lugs to fit the datsun x-member and welded it all up, had to chop off the front bosses for the brackets and weld them in underneath to save drilling right through the box. i then cut a new strenthening plate and stitched and plug welded it on the underside. did yet more cleaning and de-cruding before painting with anti rust primer and stonechip, will finish painting it all up tomorrow and get the s13 rack bolted in, then its a case of fitting the track rods and ends and somehow making the column meet the new rack. mmm progress feels gooood
i finished up the x member and fitted the rack today. knocked up a shaft to link the steering column to the rack, all working sweet now. next i got to fit the new shorter track rod ends and the rods themselves and make sure it tracks up correctly. looks spot on though, the rack was 2 inches too wide stock so the ends are an inch shorter either side to loose it without having to re-thread and cut down the rods.. well done and mucho thanks to liljoe for trawling through the parts catalogues to find them!
i sorted the antiroll bar, ended up using an s13 one and welded brackets on the lower arm. when that was done i stripped the engine bay down completly and started bare metaling it all ready for some repairs, seam welds and fresh paint. proper nasty job this and its gonna take ages...
