    Gents,

Never built a drift car, only ever built for time attack. I've got myself a Audi 80 Coupe 2.6E FWD (not the best Base to start on I know), however, I'm in love with the old girl.

So my plan being to convert to RWD by creating a tubular rear Subframe using the holes that would of accommodated the rear subframe for Quattro as they are just grommeted up on FWD chassis. Then ridding the 2.6 V6 which isn't ideal and replacing with something with more about it.

Now the two questions I have is which engine would you guys be recommending? I'd be aiming for 300+ but I can't justify 2k plus on an engine. Ive seen a few cheap V8s like the 1UZ-FE but that will be extremely tight. I have room for an engine that's 700mm wide, 600mm length and 600mm in height. Ideally I don't want to be hacking to much away, and not to be making tubular braces. And interior must remain untouched!

    Many thanks.

Being VAG the 1.8 20V Turbo would probably be a good choice.

    1.8 20vt is a shite motor.
You'd get a uz in there probably, people are fitting rs4 v8's in audi coupes and a uz looks more compact.
Be a hero and fit a 5pot turbo audi engine. Quite hard to find but well worth the hassle.

I was looking at the 1UZFE interner says it's roughly 700x700x700mm, I'd love to have a 5 pot, but at 2.5k seems steep! Also looking into the A8 4.2 V8 from the 90s

At its biggest point it might be that size, but it's a v so gets narower allowing room for headers.
Do plenty research, it will be a cool project but won't take 5 minutes and will cost a lot more than you expect to complete. It may make the 2.5k bolt in solution seem a more feasible.
