I also think we'd have to run it on a different day to the days we currently have, it would work best either as a weekend ie sat is the normal day and sunday is comp day or run it on a different saturday.

Twinning is good but when we look at the standard of some of the drivers we have at the current days it really not the way to go for entry level comp drifting, Not everyone is confident enough to get up on someones door, the idea of these days would be that anyone can enter (no bdc drivers) without fear of lets say beau in his mk3 supra tank stoving into the side of you. Its also helps to keep it cheap and fun.
Twinning on the practise days is at your own risk, but if we are sending you out to twin it becomes a different thing altogether.

Problem is if we cut the numbers the price goes up, people already moan its too expensive or passengers are too expensive, I keep hearing the same arguement too..... 'but at snetterton you get this for your money, and that lydden are greedy' and so on,
My understanding is the snetterton days are run along side other events happening if you took those other events away i'm sure they couldn't afford to run the days at the same cost to you as we do. Lydden is priced as cheap as we can do it, they really dont make much profit i assure you it takes the staff days to prep, clean up after, then theres the cost of insurance, marshalls, medical cover etc etc.

If people were willing to pay more we'd cut the numbers but with the above arguement always coming up it leads me to believe if we put the price up people wouldnt come and there would be no more skids at lydden

Ha ha, you were holding me up slowing down here there and everywhere, even holly said 'what is this guy doing in front he's so slow'

One question I got is how they managed to run the BDC licence day last year and only run 60 cars with the same price if its not about greed. Running 60 cars made them money think what running 100 cars is.

Whine whine whine, The bdc hire the circuit, lydden dont run that event so setup marshalling etc isn't down to them. I had less seat time at the bdc day as well and it was still £100. I know exactly what it cost to run our days n lydden make next to nothing, Prime example of things you dont think about are the white lines around the track and on the grid £3000 to put down and we wrecked them in 1 day, things aren't as black and white as you think they are.

If Lydden don't make next to no money on it, why continue? Also why when the 5th group was declined did the passenger prices go back up to £20? I'm not whining, just curious?

They were always £20, my mistake on the first page n i forgot to change it from where i cut n pasted it off my draught copy of the threads when we first started these days.
It actually worked out that if thet'd run the 5th group we all would have had more seat time, They were going to use the extra income to pay the marshalls to work through lunch and later into the evening so we all would have had an extra 2 sessions. At the time i was on holiday so didnt find any of this out until friday when i got back and had a chance to go to lydden, so again it werent a case of them being greedy as paul thinks, they were actually doing it for our benifit,
They carry on with them because they can see the bigger picture, there are other things going on in the back ground that i cant talk about on here.

I would be happy to pay more if their is less cars and i cant see how u would have got more time with 5 groups, we had a extra 15 min break added where the extra group would have fitted and that time seemed to be used for recoverys, also i really dont think that lydden is a good place for people starting out learning to drift, i see some cars spin every lap and i really felt for the 5+cars following that had to drive around pretty much the hole session

Still can't see Lydden getting away with running later and through lunch due to noise.

As I said, it will jepidise (sp?) safety OR seat time as the lunch break is used to rack the gravel traps...

Where is this time going to be found for it?

    100x100= 10000

I was passenger number 64 and people was still queuing after me so round that up to 100= 2000

Then second drivers, probably about 20= 400

People getting in= 100 which is another 1000.

    £13,400

    Surely that is enough!?

Now, Lez I informed you of where Lydden was losing easy money at the weekender in December, still to this day the issue has not been sorted...

Also just a mention, flags was better this time- STILL TOO MANY PEOPLE WITH WINDOWS WIDE OPEN AND HANDS OUT THE BLOODY WINDOW!!!

If you lose it, and crush your arm between the car and what ever you hit the place will potentially get shut down.

This is what got me, I was in the novice group, and probably spent half of each session driving round under yellows, or waiting for someone to be recovered. While spinning is obviously a normal part of learning, I feel I picked it up quickly, and I think span 3 times the whole day. I want to move up to intermediate to get more actual 'drift time', but I'm not sure how 'good' I'd need to be to do so? I can hold drifts fine through all the corners at Lydden, but can't transition yet, but want to learn!

i think the problem is saying this is good for a beginners day.. it isnt really imo... its a full circuit drift...

beginners need to learn in a more controlled environment like pod, norfolk etc etc... and then attend lydden.. this in turn would then make more seat time for inter'm drivers and above... and in theory would/should attract more drivers when they see the seat time has improved..

i know that the beginners will argue that the pros etc spin out alot also which is true but its not due to learning how to transition or how to initiate... its more the fact the pros are trying new, fast and extreme entries etc...

best drift day ive ever had was still one of the early days in jan 12 i think it was.. open pit, chilled about 60 drivers.. was amazing drift day...!! :D

i know everyone has to learn and im all for that but lydden to me is just not the place

if i remember correctly mallory were quite strict about this and never allowed beginners

Go pod and learn. Not at a FCD on a proper high speed circuit. The fact there is a novice group is a joke tbh.

TBF there was plenty of times in the experienced group I was sat on the grid waiting for someone to be pulled out of the gravel.

This slowing down to a crawl thing before devil's elbow needs to stop too, that really should not be happening in the experienced group.

Why would I drive twice as far to POD, when from what I've been told by someone who's been going there for years, Lydden is much better? Where do you mean in Norfolk too? The only place in Norfolk I'd go is Snet, and that's the same, a full circuit...

I don't understand your pointless comments, the novice group doesn't affect you in the slightest, so why cry about it? Everyone has to start somewhere, and I know a few people who all started at Lydden and progressed fast, or did you just pop out of your mother doing backwards entries?

Blatantly the novice groups fault. :wack:
