    Cheers for the comments guys:thumbs:

Nope, it was very easy... Gave Dave mac props a drawing and the Nissan front joint, They welded that into a tube, welded in a new beefy rear joint then balanced it... All for just over a 100 notes which was a bargain! I did the 4Age one myself but it didnt work out much cheaper as you then have to pay to get it balanced.. This time I thought I would let them do it!

Awesome, at 15psi or so torque is soo much more, totally different animal, with the boost up it will be ridiculous.

    Fun times :worthy:

    Hmm this is the question!!

Some people mash them with 150 bhp but some people (Like terry with his 270bhp cossy lump) manage not to break anything no matter how hard they try... In theory it is down to tyres. If I don't go too big or sticky, I shouldn't be able to get enough torque to do damage... We shall see!!!

was going to ask the same question about the diff, but if you have a good enough centre section in there it should be fine. My friend has a turbo 5MGE in his AE86 with an SR5 rear end and hasnt had any problems.

Cool project man, although the engine looks a tad further forward than you would like it? I would imagine this is because of the SR sump, I know another guy who mounted a SR in his MK2 and had a nightmare with the sump but that is because I assume he mounted the engine further back.

Are you still running an english axle? I am sure when I was looking under Terry's at AF it had a baby atlas.

I ran a completly stock english axle with a Tran-X LSD in my MK1 drift car and never broke a shaft but that was just a 180 odd bhp Pinto.

The engine sits pretty much where a pinto would sit.. i.e if the original bulkhead was still in there it would be snug against it.. As you say, this is down do using the existing Nissan sump setup with the escort X-member. Had to shave a bit off the rack mounts and grind a boss off the back of the head but all seems to fit quite nicely now.

In a perfect world it would have been nice to mount it further back but the extra time and money it would have taken (Fabricate new sump&pickup, Mod bulkhead, mod tunnell, fabricate gear linkage etc..) would have given very marginal gains. I am yet to corner weight it with the SR in but I am VERY happy with how it handles now:D

Yeah Terry has a Atlas and 5 links now but when he was in BDC and last year he was still rocking a english:nod:

    A comparison of engine positions

    SR.. Against bulkhead at rear..

    YB...Agaist bulkhead at rear..

The SR appears a couple of inches longer than the YB but most of this is an optical illusion as the SR cam cover extends over the cam gears and VVT sprocket.. From flywheel to front pulley they are about the same

    Ed, you're nuts :wack:

Hat's off to you though for doing it, though hope you can get the turbo fixed after it's brief outing on the road.
