yeah the arb setup is awesome idea and must work well.. cant wait to twin with ya.. old skool all the way
Cheers guys! @ Dec - Good point on the screen.. I hadn't thought of that! @ Driftescort - Not put the fans in yet, will re-use the motorbike fans I used for the 4Age @Tony - That's what I was thinking.. looking at getting some DS3000s Took it out for a drive today to see what it feels like on the new front setup. I haven't fitted the front ARB yet as I need to mod the lower arms to get them to fit. Despite this, the front end now feels really good. It has taken all of the vagueness that was displayed under heavy braking and turn in. I still need to set the geo but it feels like it is going to be absolutely awesome.. in other news, I picked this up off ebay pretty cheap... Then tried it in a few positions and wasn't happy with any of them. The problem was due to the pretty small tunnell and the position of the gearstick etc.. With it mounted by the std handbrake it meant my arm hitting the seat to try and get it. With the whole unit infront of the gearstick it was a bit too far away. So.... I got chopping The idea is to have the lever just infront and to the side of the gearstick and mount the master cyl further back, to the side of the std handbrake, joining the two with a rod.. Will hopefully get this in the car this week. Cheers
Cheat stick Seriously seriously need to go for a rip mate! Let me know when you're free and I'll come over in the Corolla!
Mount it on the freakin' roof dude, so you pull it down towards you! And also connect that shit up to the horn, so I can hear when you're hanging on the wand in videos.
Spent most of today sorting out the geometry.. Stripped the front down again to mod the lower arms to accept the arb. Also had to chop a bit out of one of the tension struts so I could get enough Castor. Got it all back together and set it all up properly.. ARB now connected.. Also got the handbrake mounted.. Still need to do the brake lines but am waiting on some bits to arrive. Test drive tommorow! Cheers
looking real sweeeeeeeeet fella! top work that man! my only concern is that rod from wand to cylinder is soooo long its liable to bend, may be worth using a r-joint mid way(with the rod running thro the swivel/rose) i see a retro drift day at norfolk as malx said
Cheer lads.. Don't worry Stiggy, the rod is far over specced for the job Took it for a shakedown on Sunday to test the new geometry... Drove really well and felt really nice. The front end feels so much more planted now and with the tweaked settings, the steering is much nicer down the lanes.. Unfortunatly, the bumpy backlanes highlighted that the LHF damper is failing so I need to source a set of inserts now! Will bump up the front spring rate up when I have the struts off then it should be spot on. Cheers
ahh good man burton power are having some billy inserts made, should be in end of feb,if nor rally design fella!!
hi ed awesome job your doing here. i'm doing this to my mk2 4dr soon got a 180sx at the weekend. was there much work involved in the wiring side of things??? thanks
The wiring was dead easy TBH.. I just used the wiring guides that are for fitting a SR in a S13 and adapted it for the escort loom. It is only a few wires to get it running
