That hydro is pure genius Ed! Never seen it before and for something so simple I'm so impressed! Hahaha.
Booked onto the BDC day at Silverstone in a couple of weeks so that has meant I have been busy sorting out all the boring jobs I have been putting off.. I finally mounted the cooling fans (A pair of cowled motorbike fans) and wired them up: Driving it on the road more often,in the cold weather has made me get my act together and finally fit the heater unit I bought.. One of these: Micro Heater Rally Subaru Evo Escort Kit Classic Car | eBay It's a tiny little unit with a small heater matrix and a computer style fan. This is rigged up to the screen demisting ducts. I havent plumbed it into the engine yet as I need to order some reducers first but the fan is really powerful so it should work well.. Whilst fitting the heater, I pulled all the dash out and re-fitted it all in neater positions, moving the ecu etc.. All looks much neater now: Also picked up a pair of minilights nice and cheaply so will get some tyres on these asap Still got to sort the fuel lines and replace a few fixings in the rear suspension, source some tyres then it's ready
hows the heater!? really tempted by one of those you just using it as a demister? love the car its come one really well from what you started with and your workmanship is just awesome!
Cheers guys.. Still waiting for some bits to plumb the heater in to see how well it works. Hopefully it should be rigged up this week. Got a few more bits done over the weekend to make it a bit more presentable.. Cleaned up all the drift wheels.. Made up a pump and filter holder to go with the new pump.. Few more bits to do but pretty much ready
Not sure I will have a chance mate.. Busy year with the races.. Want to get back up to Buxton a couple of times this year though as that place is awesome
Nice!. id love to see this go looks like a right weapon. wish i was that handy with my projects ha they seem to just sit
Took the car to the BDC day at Silverstone last Sunday. Was really crappy weather with lots of rain and even sleet at lunch, so I was really happy I had fitted the de-mister setup! This was the first time drifting the car with the new engine and compared to the last time I drifted it with the 4Age (Seems like yestarday but it was Dec 2009!!) the car feels 1000x different.. The power delivery is the weirdest thing to get used to but it feels like it is going to be awesome when I get used to it. Heres an in-car of the 3 judged runs using a mate's GopPro... And an outside one with a normal camera.. Nothing broke on the car all day. The engine was really happy and didn't miss a beat. After the day I now have a new list of jobs to do.. The LHF damper is completely dead now so have had to order a new pair of inserts. Have also ordered some stiffer springs as well. I'm going to play with the front suspension geo a bit more. The exhaust needs to be replaced with something a bit more noisy.... then it just needs using lots!
Spent a bit of time yestarday and today checking the car over to see if anything broke or came loose. All looks good so I cleaned it, put some petrol in it and put some more miles on it. Took some new pictures of it all cleaned up: And a little in-car of the acceleration in the dry. It is only at 0.7 bar at the moment so no idea of the power? Today I changed the front pads to some Ferrodo DS3000s .. I was thinking I was going to have to go for 4 pots etc but thought it would be worth trying a proper pad first. With these new pads in it feels perfect. After a bedding in session (Good way to make yourself feel sick) they are really impresive. Initial bite from cold is very good (way more than std pads) considering it is a race pad, then when they are up to temp they have massive bite and I couldn't get them to fade. Very impressed...
Excellent! This is the first Escort MK2 I have ever seen with a SR20DET in it, must be another one out there somewhere? Looks right at home there! Brilliant!!
