I'm changing the timing chain on my sr20 while I've got the head off, the new sprocket isn't as deep on the left side, am I right in thinking I just need a shorter bolt and not use the old larger sprocket?

    TIA, rob

That a nissan kit? I would recommend only using a genuine nissan chain kit! I used an aftermarket kit, 7000 miles later i had to change it for a proper nissan one, it stretched, the tensioner was fully extended :(

Ah that doesn't sound good, it's an aftermarket kit, just curious as I've seen loads of pictures on the cam gear without the big chunky bit on it

The only kit u get them sprockets included is for the pulsar/almera as far as i know. I made the same mistake. The genuine nissan ones u dont get them sprockets because of the vvt gear, so both are not needed The chains are probably at least the same length, but would not trust it mate, going off what happened with me lol
