check all the doors , boot and bonnet are closed , and the switches are not fucked

then if that doesn't work , check the car for water on the carpets , those cars are prone for leaks that cause the alarm to mong out.

ultrasonics are a little sensor that emits radiowaves, there setup to bounce off objects inside the car, so if you leave a window it throws the signal outside the window to a certain radius, so if someone walks past or trys to put something inside the window, or opens a door or whatnot (disturbs the area - or bursts the bubble as alarm fitters say) it sets it off. could be one of those is playing up?

/Make sure that all the door switchs work, open them one by one and make sure the interior lights turn on/off. Same with the boot if it's an estate, does the rear washer jet work? If the get blocked up on estates then they leak down onto the boot latch and corrode the termnals. Also make sure the bonnet shows that its open on the centre of the dash.
As Bolf said, lift the carpet up in the passenger footwell and make sure it's not wet as thats where the central locking ECU is.
Or, it could be alarm horn itself, if the internal battery is going flat then they can go a bit spazzy

Its a Estate and Alex that could possibly be it ... the rear washer jet doesnt work! so i can only imagine its pumping it into the car somewhere.

without sounding dumb should i remove the roof lining or is it easier to get to? where will the corrosion be? by the boot lock or something?

My A3 was doing the same thing. That turned out to be the rear tailgate washer. Filled the boot lock and tailgate with water and the alarm would randomly go off. Fortunately I live somewhere where we can leave cars unlocked as it was driving us mad. 2 weeks later its dried out and now it works as normal again !!

Good chance its rear washer on tailgate, squirter pin in centre of wiper arm is meant to rotate, but corrodes and sticks then pulls off water pipe inside and drips on boot switch ;) mk4 golfs are same
